The refs didn't lose this game for the Spurs. They gave up a 5 point lead with like 20 seconds left. They had no business losing that game. Make some FTs, get some boards, and they win.

The Heat gift wrapped that last 2 minutes for you.

    • Forgot about this, the Spurs should have been fouling on that last possession of regulation. I saw Boston employ this in 2008 and it worked well. Why allow teams to shoot a three for the tie?

They're talking about this on ESPN right now.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

          • I hadn't noticed that Miami didn't play Cole or Haslem.

They may not have called that, they should have fouled before.

I'm not blaming the officials for the loss. I'm just pointing out one of the greatest flaws in the sport of basketball is how much control officials exert over the game. junkie said it best the lack of consistency is a huge problem. The officials basically dictated the game throughout.

Hockey on the other hand is remarkably consistent and easily the best officiated of all the major sports (and yes hockey is a major sport)

Wow. RT @BrettEP: Manu on Game 7: “I have no clue how we’re going to be re-energized. I’m devastated.”

                      • Only the Spurs can draft someone with the 15th pick and in less than two years have him get 22 points, 11 boards and 3 steals on 64% shooting while holding LeBron James to 42% shooting in Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

San Antonio is a ridiculous organization.

                        • Two missed free throws with less than a minute killed it for the Spurs. Miami takes the energy and wins game 7 easily, as Spurs have nothing left to give.

You could put that game in a eternal time capsule as a stellar example of the NBA.

                          • I agree with Pop, I don't like fouling when up.

                            Why stop the clock?
                            Why give free points?
Why allow a team to set up their defense?

I'd rather roll the dice on contested 25 footers than give free throws to your opponent.

                            • Ginobili 9 pts, 8 TOs. +/- of -21 in a game that goes to OT.

                              Wade was -15.

Yeah that's what it looked like for those two. Those guys were hurting their teams out there tonight.

                              • They got the misses they wanted just not the boards.
