LeBron has always been an athletic freak and a great player - the best in the league for 5-7 years - but it's as if his basketball skills and production have caught up with the ridiculous size and athleticism, so that now he is not only a freak physical specimen but he is freak basketball player. And if you appreciate good basketball, it is fun to watch, indeed.

I heard a couple interesting stats while watching yesterday. In 2012-13 he had the highest FG% in NBA history for a player who made at least 100 3s; and on his first 19 touches of the game yesterday, the heat scored 28 points. I don't really have any idea just how impressive the latter stat is, but it sounds really good.

    • Holy shyte. Harrison Barnes with an absolutely filthy dunk.

      • Rockets will probably be out quickly, but Patrick Beverley will have made himself a lot of money in those few games.

        • If it wasn't a foregone conclusion that the Heat would win it, it is now. Westbrook is out and will have surgery immediately for a torn meniscus.

We could finally see that Spurs v. Heat series.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Maybe. I think the Spurs would have a better chance than the Thunder too.

Those of us who hate Kobe I think hoped there would be major Ewing Theory implications with his injury, but deep down, it just wasn't going to happen. This particular Laker team - particularly with an injured Nash, needs Kobe (and even with him they weren't that good - just dangerous).

The Thunder, on the other hand, without Westbrook could be very interesting. Durant is pissed about always coming in second and very motivated. He just might go all MJ on the NBA in the playoffs and make things very interesting. KD has been great for a long time, but we just might see another gear now that the chucker at PG is gone. Probably mostly wishful thinking on my part as a NBA fan, but what the hell.

I agree, though Miami is better this year than last. I think it would have been a 5 game series with the Thunder, but San Antonio could take them to 6 or 7. The longevity of this Spurs team is amazing to me. That Duncan-Parker-Ginobli core has been around for 11 seasons (though Ginobli didn't play a huge role in 2003). Despite usually drafting late, they've still been able to pick up players like Splitter and Leonard.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

No way. That was a cool quote from KD in SI but it ain't happening. There are no threats on that team to score the points it would take to get through the west let alone the Heat. I could see the Rockets making their series very interesting now. The Thunder now just have Jackson and Fisher to run the point. KD will be playing 48 minutes a game. I just don't see it. If they still had Harden, maybe but I don't expect Thabo or Serge or anyone else to make up for the loss of Westbrook. At least not on a consistent enough basis to win 4 of 7.

                    • The Heat are 35-1 in the last 36 games in which LeBron James has played. That is very nearly half an NBA season, with one loss. To review: NBA rules dictate that one team must defeat another team four times in seven games in order to eliminate said team and advance to the next round. Four losses, seven games. Miami is 35-1 in the last 36 games featuring the world’s best player. The math … it is not good.

                              • This GSW/Denver game has been very entertaining. There are a lot of guys out there who can really shoot it and create shots. The more I watch Bogut, even with all the injuries, the more I'd love to see him in a 3 bigs rotation with Kanter and Favors.
