I finally got to watch the cubs this weekend (Sunday and WGN baby) and here are my thoughts.
-Jeff Z looks to be ok in the rotation.
-Starlin Castro is the all star from the team.
-I like both Jeff Baker and Darwin Barney @ 2nd
- Clevenger should be a solid pro. He always has a good BA but never was a "top prospect"
I love the return of the Coors Fan Cam. Always nice to give the cameramen an excuse to find the best looking women in park."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. It has become apparent that a man can, within limits, follow his inclinations within the arms of the Church if he does so discreetly." - The Walking Drum

Same old Cubs...
runners on third and 2nd (tying run) with one out. Barney strikes out on a check swing in the dirt and the cubs best hitter Castro strikes out on looking at a strike straight down the pipe.

I feel like I should at least acknowledge every Cubs win. There could be very few this year.
Here's to 4-11, 3-7 out of the last 10 for last place in the division and 2nd to last in the league.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

It's probably my fault. A couple of weeks ago I signed up for mlb.tv. I think the options are $25/month or $125 for the season. After thinking it over for a bit, I decided to go month-by-month, thinking that I may not be as eager to watch games after June or July (or, the way it is looking this year, May).Originally posted by pellegrino View PostI feel like I should at least acknowledge every Cubs win. I figure I am being punished for my lack of faith.

So now the cubs trade their best player (Byrd). They are the worst team in the majors. I really wish they could get rid of soriano."Be a philosopher. A man can compromise to gain a point. I have no problems with trading Byrd; I wish they had done it a year ago when they could have gotten more value for him. He is a 35 year old outfielder who has been declining for years and had a 719 OPS this year. I think he will probably end up under 700 this year and that is not too difficult to replace. It doesn't look like we got much for him, but if I were a GM, I wouldn't give much either.Originally posted by Mormon Red Death View PostSo now the cubs trade their best player (Byrd). I agree that getting rid of Fonzie would be wonderful, but Theo will have to find a sucker for that one. At this point, Soriano is no better than Byrd, and a whole lot more expensive.
Looks like Cubs and Padres are the only teams that have not yet won a series. Padres now face the Nats while we go against the Cards, so we may end up the winner in this contest.

I forgot to acknowledge two of the most important wins we have this season, 3-2 on consecutive nights against the Cards, I know Clark got a dig in on the Cards' thread, but we needed something official here too. Then last night we had a nice outing against the Phillies, it would be nice to have a similar game tonight.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia

Beating Halliday was a nice victory.Originally posted by pellegrino View PostI forgot to acknowledge two of the most important wins we have this season, 3-2 on consecutive nights against the Cards, I know Clark got a dig in on the Cards' thread, but we needed something official here too. Brian LaHair is awesome. He's going to have to keep it up for the Cubs to have any shot at flirting with .500.

he's been on a tear, but it's only early May. I think he'll do well, and like you said, if we're to have any shot at .500 (we don't) he's got to perform.Originally posted by Top Ute View PostWith a little more protection and anything close to contending status, LaHair would have to be up there for MVP considerations.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia
