Felipe Alou the manager of the DR team said after the loss: "We should have crushed that team 9-0". I wonder if he got that number from baseball prospectus, Funk any ideas?*Banned*

What would you like to hear?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostMRD, I'd love to hear any more detail if you wouldn't mind sharing.
We Angelinos are lucky, as the Championship game will be held at the Ravine. I am definitely going to attend to cheer on the USA. I am excited.
Here is hoping that the US redeems itself from the last time. What a disgrace.
PS What were scalpers asking for tickets? I am surprised you had to pay $30. Maybe you had really nice seats? In this economy, I would guess that scalpers are losing their shirts.
there were tons of scalpers for the game. depending what you wanted they were going for a little more than face value. We sat 3rd base 30 rows up. It was a near sell out. The seats we have were really good with lots of action. Of course the idiots to the inside of use came and went at least 15 times.
Seriously... get your friends together and buy all the beer you need so you aren't leaving every inning.
Its fun to hear the young canadian kids getting loaded and singin O canada at the top of their lungs. Not to mention the heckling was pretty good too. there was probably 70% canadian. 25% American and 5% venezeulean there.
Canada really doesnt have that bad of a team
Joey Votto (reds isnt bad) and Justin Morneau is a former MVP. Of course they dont have Dempster or Harden Pitching for them which would really help.
The americans do not have the pitching. Peavy sucks. Their relievers suck (Latroy Hawkins and JJ Putz stink). The lineup for the americans however is pretty good."Be a philosopher. sidney ponson isnt that badOriginally posted by Hot Lunch View PostI am very jealous MRD. I am sure it was a very fun game to attend.
I am surprised at how close the game US/Canada was. I am also surprised at the Dominican team not even showing up today. Very pathetic showing by the Dominicans. They have a very deadly line up and they can only produce 2 runs against a bunch of no name pitchers. They faced a couple of pitchers that haven't even played in the minors."Be a philosopher. Tick, I can't be sure since I have never been to a WBC game. Angelinos love baseball and Dodger Stadium, so I would imagine that it will be well attended. Again, my assumption is that the US and A will be in the final game, which will add to demand.Originally posted by The_Tick View PostDDD...
I am thinking about going to the WBC championship game. How easy are tickets to score at the game?
I would probably be coming with 4 (including myself). Can bring as few as two...
However, all of the foot traffic for scalpers is local walk-ups. And right now, 1 in 10 of local folks are out of work. HFN and I just went to the SC/Oregon basketball game. We walked up to a scalper and he offered us front row, almost dead center for barely over face value. I am seeing a lot of that right now.
If you are looking to simply get into the stadium and sit out in the pav or upper deck, I would guess that you could score a pair for minimal ducets (less than $20 each), pretty easily. If you want good seats, wait until right before the first pitch. or better yet...wait until the middle of the first inning. Prices will crash down.
4 is doable at a baseball game, but 2 is better. Most people sell in 2s, so you can pick up tickets from families and normal folks that have extra. Larger numbers are limited to scalpers and pros who will be more expensive. The average fan doesn't show up to the game with an extra 4 seats to sell.
My personal goal for this game: 2 decent-to-nice seats (no uppers) for $20 each or less. I think that is completely doable.Last edited by TripletDaddy; 03-08-2009, 05:05 PM.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
