Rumors are his contract will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 years for 7-8 million. With opt out clauses after each season to rejoin the NBA. They only play 40 games over there, and the money is tax free. Not a bad gig at all. Not to mention any endorsements he receives.

The old joke of "I'm famous in Japan" is based in reality. You can be marginally talented in any field and be wildly rich and famous beyond your dreams in Asia. That rapper that won a bunch of Freestyle Fridays on BET- jin? This is true but those contracts are structured so that the team takes care of the taxes on top of the agreed upon figure. Most likely he will take home the value of the contract.
