Keith Smart after the loss to the Lakers last night:

Despite the loss, Smart said there were a lot of positives. One of them was Jimmer Fredette, who led the Kings with 18 points off the bench. He made 7 of 9 shots, including 3 of 5 three-pointers.

Fredette has been the third point guard on a Kings team that's struggling with its shooting. His production in limited minutes is becoming hard to ignore.

"I've got to make room on the floor for him because he's just too positive right now with what he's doing," Smart said. "He's kept a perfect attitude the whole time, and I've got find ways to make sure he's on the floor."

The Kings are shooting 40.1 percent from the field and 29.5 percent on three-pointers. Fredette is shooting 64 percent (16 of 25) from the floor and 50 percent (5 of 10) on three-pointers. Thompson is the only other King shooting above 50 percent.

Fredette has played 48 minutes, 12 seconds this season.

"I just try to go out and provide a spark whenever I can with limited minutes," Fredette said, "so you've just got to go out there and do the best you can."

He had a decent game. Didn't hit from downtown. It's interesting though because he's the one guy on the Kings that tries to run an offense. He initiates pick and rolls and tries to get some motion going. He had some sweet assists that led to dunks. He and Lillard battled that second quarter. When he came back in the 2nd half the game was pretty much over. At the end of the game Luke Babbitt took a cheap shot at Jimmer and was whistled for a flagrant. It was completely unnecessary as the game was well out of hand. Even worse is nobody on the Kings really came to help Jimmer or get in Babbitt's grill. Not sure if that means anything or not. But man I hate that Jimmer plays for this shitty team. Every player on the team has the green light. Watching this team shoot jumpshots is painful.

It's shocking to me the Kings aren't making major moves. They have to know they have no shot at winning as Tyreke Evans is playing a major role on that team. I think, above all else, Evans is the guy who sets the tone of selfishness on that team. Cousins shows just enough talent that they will always keep him around, but I'm not sure they can ever win with him either because he's a complete headcase.

KINGS LOSE AND GET PUNKED – If losing wasn’t bad enough, the Kings watched as Luke Babbitt attempted to decapitate Jimmer Fredette in the closing seconds. Watched being the operative word. A completely unnecessary cheap shot with the game well in hand, and yet, where were Fredette’s teammates? Nobody is asking for punches to be thrown, but would it have killed a guy to get in Babbitt’s face or maybe shove the guy? You know, let Jimmer and the whole team know we won’t accept dirty fouls like that. It was so weak to see the team just take that foul with no retribution. Letting some no name schmuck take a shot at one of your teammates…hard to understand.

I thought he had been productive lately when in. I thought PK said this morning he is shooting over 50% from the field and 38% from 3's.

Hopefully they are picking and choosing to show him in situations where he will look good because they are planning on trading him.
