I just read about it and it's quite a change. All but the kicker on the kicking team lines up at the receiving team's 40. At least nine players on the receiving team lines up at their 30. Only the kicker and returners can move until the ball hits the ground or is touched by the receiving team. Kick out of bounds goes to the 40. Inside kicks go back to the alignment as normal, but have to be declared ahead of time.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View Post

They have to declare it's on onside kick at the outset and it goes back to the normal alignment. You keep it if you gain 20 yards on one play. Otherwise you turn it over around your own 40. So about the same result as a failed onside kick. The probability of making 20 yards in one play is probably greater than recovering an onside kick. I don't hate it. So is this 20 yard 4th down thing available after every score? Or just in the 4th quarter? Or just in the 4th quarter of games within 20 points? Or closer?
