Whether that has to do with Crabtree's return is the question and that probably has a lot to do with it. But the almost complete lack of production out of Kyle Williams, Jon Baldwin and Mario Manningham is what sticks out in my mind from the regular season -- either those guys totally suck (Williams absolutely does), or there's a problem in the passing game either because of scheme or because Kaepernick refused to trust these guys.

The fact of the matter now is that Vernon Davis, Crabtree and Anquan Boldin provide three really good receiving options, certainly an above average receiving corps in the NFL. Crabtree is rounding into 2012 shape in the postseason and that's good to see, though I don't think he's there quite yet.

This defense isn't quite as good as the 2011 defense, but it's a lot better than the 2012 postseason defense. This offense isn't quite as good as the 2012 postseason offense but it's a lot better than the 2011 offense. Too bad we can't combine the 2012 postseason offense with the 2011 defense.
Funny you mention this as this is the same argument you Niner "fans" killed Alex Smith for. Calling him captain check down. Now you are complaining that Kaepernick doesn't check down enough or throw enough short and intermediate passes?

EDIT-- my bad, it happened in the second quarter.

Still, 23-10 vs. 19-10, who cares.
I'm just not sure they score a TD going in to the half if that gets called. that's all I'm saying. I think it changes the games.

The 9ers won and outplayed them, but it just bugs me when the refs don't call that kind of crap. It's an easy call, it's against the rules, and the guy was standing right there.

Seahawks fans and 49er fans are the worst. Seahawks fans are all new, they remind me of Ute fans from 2004 and 2008. They all have brand new gear and none of them have any clue who Rick Mirer is.

49er fans (especially the ones in Utah) all jumped on the bandwagon in the late 80s early 90s when they were good and winning super bowls. Then they completely checked out for the past 15 years and now that they are winning again they remember again that they used to like the 49ers. They will spout off about Jerry Rice, Young, Montana, John Taylor, etc. But as soon as Mariucci left so did they. The last decade they haven't followed the team or said shit. They have no idea about Dennis Erickson, Mike Nolan, and Mike Singletary they checked out during that era. They all jumped back in during the 2011 season when Harbaugh came aboard and starting calling themselves life long fans because back in 1989 they remembered they had a 49er plush toy or blanket.
My mom is that type of 9er fan. The Seahawks fans are the worst, coming out of the woodwork lately. I've never seen Seahawks gear in Utah until the last year or so.

I think the penalty would have changed that drive. Obviously nobody knows if that's the case, but it's a pretty straightforward rule.

Should be fun to watch him and Richard Sherman go at it. I get tired of that guy's shit talking after each play as well.

Is Sherman still on the juice or do we not know for sure because he hasn't been tested in a while?

IKR!! What kind of idiot moves from Seattle to Utah and still wears Seahawks gear?! Prolly makes his kids wear Hawks gear to school too... instead of adopting allegiance to the NFL franchise located in SLC.

Aren't you a Dolphins fan? I can't really tell because I think you've made about 10 posts total on them, probably because they're consistently terrible and there's nothing to discuss. Maybe you can clue us in on what being a "real fan" means. Apparently it's picking a terrible team and not posting or saying anything about them. Did you buy a Cleo Lemon jersey to prove it all to yourself? But growing up in the geographic area of a certain team, following them intently throughout childhood, adolescence, mission and college years and then obsessing over NFL drafts hoping they would improve isn't enough. Maybe some poor African country has a Tim Rattay jersey around (lord knows I can't get one here) so I can prove to CJ that I love terrible QBs and teams just as much as he does.

As for the topic at hand, the 49ers didn't win by 1, 2, 3 or even 4 points, they won by 13 points and that was after they played keep away in the 4th quarter. The non-call on Boldin didn't matter. Far bigger than any singular call was the fact that Steve Smith's injury caught up with him in the second half.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

They probably wouldn't have scored a TD, it would have been 10-9 heading into the half. But the 49ers dominated the Carolina offense in the second half, partly because Steve Smith's injury came back. I think there's something to be said about momentum and all that, but the Niners had the far better coaching staff and offensive personnel yesterday along with a defense that was somewhat close to Carolina's.

You're right since apparently there isn't any middle ground between a 1970s play action 10 second in the pocket, Al Davis Raiders passing offense and a Gary Crowton 2003 dink and dunk passing offense.

Is it possible that without a TD on that drive in question, it changes the way the game is played from that point? Perhaps SF presses a bit and takes risks they didn't need to take when they score the TD? Maybe Carolina gains some confidence going into halftime and they play differently in the second half. Maybe, with the additional 15 yards, Kap tries to make a play and forces a pass that isn't there and throws a pick.

You're right, if we're just looking at the score alone, it didn't matter, but you have momentum, confidence, etc, that can change things. There are so many different factors at play that you can't just look at the final score and say it didn't matter - the fact is, it was a 15 yard penalty that wasn't, but should have been called, and we have no idea how it might have changed the game.

Having said that, there were probably bad calls that didn't go the Niners way that could have changed the game as well.

Maybe CJ can prove his street cred here by posting a picture of his Terry Cummings poster he had as a kid. Then he can prove to everyone he was with the band before they got big so it's all good that he likes them now.

They would have scored at least a field goal on that drive. They had just under a minute left and they were on Carolina's 24 yard line. Carolina was down 3 points at the half and their offense had played pretty well in the second quarter. I find it hard to believe that they went into halftime thinking things were hopeless.

They proceeded to get soundly beaten in the second half because Steve Smith's injury came back and San Francisco's defense dominated their offense.

Again, with the extra 15 to go, does Kap force one and throw a pick? We'll never know because the flag wasn't thrown.

I think half their team is on the juice. There's a culture of cheating up there.

Right, but I'd have bet my left arm that Denver would score at least a FG on their last drive of the half and they had a pick.

Ignoring penalties that are happening right in front of your face drive me nuts. I don't really care who wins this game, either, but it was a bad non call.
