It was interesting win to say the least -- and I think it was the best kind of win for them to have a very good week of practice this week. They won, but they were also embarrassed on national TV in the process. They almost choked a game away in one of the worst fashions in league history. Hopefully they're pissed and hopefully they take it out on the Seahawks. The #2 seed in the NFC, IMO, is in the catbird's seat. Their win today notwithstanding, I think Atlanta is an incredibly vulnerable #1, and the #2 gets to most likely avoid the Giants either as a #4, #5 or #6 seed in the second round (think about it -- if the Giants are the #4 seed that means Seattle is likely the #5 seed and the #6 seed is some shitty team like Chicago or Dallas. The 6 seed has to play at Green Bay or San Fran and they're not winning if there if they're Chicago or Dallas. At either the #4 or #5 seed, the Giants are playing Atlanta in the second round. If the Giants are the #6 seed, again they're playing Atlanta in the second round. Minnesota could pull off an upset at Green Bay or San Fran as the #6 seed, but Minnesota has to play at Houston next week and I don't see them pulling that off which means I think they're out of the playoffs altogether. One of Chicago, NY Giants or Dallas will be 10-6 IMO).Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

The only way he'll ever escape the game manager label (which especially popular among BYU fans, but I still like you -Originally posted by BigPiney View PostAn Elite game manager maybe. But elite quarterback? Not sure about that.
) will be to join another team and show it's false. I think he did much more than manage games last season and the first 7 games of this season, but he has to get out of S.F., IMO.

That four-touchdown game came in Kaepernick's fifth career NFL start; in 75 career starts, Alex Smith never threw for four touchdowns in a game.Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

I don't care where he went to college, and Alex Smith occupies a similar spot with BYU fans as Jimmer does with Utah fans-- we bear him no ill will.Originally posted by LA Ute View PostThe only way he'll ever escape the game manager label (which especially popular among BYU fans, but I still like you -

But as a Niners fan I can tell you that I always felt that Alex Smith was quite limited at QB. If you watched that game the other night, Alex Smith doesn't make that throw to Randy Moss in the end zone and he absolutely does not make that throw to Crabtree down the middle. With David Akers not being able to hit a field goal of over 35 yards, the Niners needed TDs this season and couldn't constantly settle for FGs like they did last year.
Smith is the 20th highest paid QB in the league. If he's as good as Utah fans keep insisting he is, then we should be able to find out how right they are when teams come knocking on the Niners door in the offseason.Part of it is based on academic grounds. I am curious what you think of this development. My memory might be fuzzy, but didn't Akers tear it up last year?Originally posted by Color Me Badd Fan View PostI don't care where he went to college, and Alex Smith occupies a similar spot with BYU fans as Jimmer does with Utah fans-- we bear him no ill will.

He did, but he's terrible this year. They say his pelvis hurts, but it's probably just mental.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostI am curious what you think of this development. The Niners have won a lot of tough road games this year, but they're not winning this one. This is the Seacocks' Super Bowl.Part of it is based on academic grounds.
