Its a legitimate question. Players were regressing under Jim Boylen at Utah, even the big men that he supposedly knew how to coach. Not saying that every player needs to turn out, but he has to have someone work out. Nevill is the only possible example you can point to, but that is questionable.

You admitted you didn't watch his teams. If you watched them, you might have a better sense of how bad they were especially at the end of games. I will forever have PTSD from watching Tyler Kepkay with the ball in his hands at the end of games.

Other than I think Boylen is an unethical asshole, I wouldn't have a problem if they really wanted to hire him as an assistant coach.

If they hire Boylen I will stop watching Jazz games. I have become a pretty good fan watching all their TV games.

I will never forgive him for how he treated Gordon Monson.

Maybe someday I can learn to put sports first in my life above everything else like you such that I don't miss an administrative move in the league office.

My guess is that the Boylen talk is just so that Jazz fans will be relieved when they hear whoever the actual selection is... "He may not be who I really wanted, but at least it's not Boylen."

If that's the case, it says a lot about how crappy their first choice is that they have to soften the blow.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

It's a small market. What are you gonna do?

Don't know much about this Euro guy, but Euro head coach and assistant to D'Antoni wouldn't thrill me.
And yet you are defending Boylen.

I don't know which portion of my comment you are referring to. Karl in a rebuild? The Jazz going after a Horny/Buden/Thibs/Vogel type assistant? The Euro guy?

Interesting note on Messina's connection to the Jazz front office from Stein's article:

NBA coaching sources, furthermore, say Messina has another big fan in Salt Lake City in former player agent Justin Zanik, who's in his first season as a member of Lindsey's front-office cabinet with the Jazz.

Has there ever been a European head coach in the NBA?

lol. the guy is important enough for you to criticize him by name, but not important enough for you to read the front page of any hockey news source? the die hard fan routine can be embarrassing if you don't play the part.

I don't think so. That Stein article said it would be breaking a barrier. Maybe this is Utah's way to counteract NBA players not wanting to play in SLC. Maybe hiring Messina would get them more Euro free agents like Memo, or maybe it'd help convince Tomic to come over.
