Seeing how Matthews has played with the Blazers, not sure how he improves your SG situation. I'm happy to give you back his 16.7% 3 point shooting.
You've been complaining about him quite a bit. But you've pretty much got what you saw last year. I'm sure his FG% will bounce up a little. I wasn't heart broken by the loss of Matthews. I really liked him at the end of last year for the effort he gave. But he never proved that he was going to be worth the money Portland was offering. That is in contrast to Millsap who had already proven his worth when Portland offered the $.
AK Factor: Andrei Kirilenko has been insane defensively. Andy Larsen did a nice piece at utahjazz 360 breaking down AK’s defense on the best players on the other teams. In Miami, AK kept LeBron on the perimeter and had him a jump shooter. LeBron only got to the rim 7 times that night shooting 1 of 8 from outside 10 feet. In Orlando, he matched up on Vince Carter at times, then shut down Joe Johnson in Atlanta and Stephen Jackson in Charlotte.
AK Part 2: According to 1320, K-Fan stats intern Matt Bennion in the Atlanta game, during the final 6 minutes when Sloan switched AK to Joe Johnson the Hawks scored 6 points and Johnson didn’t get a shot off. 16 of Johnson 23 points came when guarded by Bell, 5 came in transition and 2 on CJ Miles. Nothing against AK.
AK is at 57% on his 3's so far this year and 80% of his FTs (80% from the line would tie his career best)
Good thing Raja's defense is making up for his abysmal shooting.
My brother thought D-Will said "How do my balls taste?" after that teardrop in Charlotte. He was obviously yelling at a certain fan or fans but I could have sworn he said something more benign like "How do you like that?" or something to that effect. Any lip readers here?
At any rate, I thought it was funny and I do like to see the moxy from D-Will and the rest of this team.
Beat a defenseless Thunder team tonight and leave no doubt.

Veteran Jazz guard Raja Bell’s availability will be a game-time decision Monday night...Bell, who has not missed any of the Jazz’s 10 games so far, is bothered by a missing groin.
Emphasis added in order to tell the whole truth.

Speaking of players past their prime, how much should we expect the Jazz to offer Nazr Mohammed this offseason?

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock
