  • Sloan said Deron, Sap and Jefferson all have starting spots. Camp battles will be for the two (Bell/Miles) and the three (AK/Hayward).
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

    • - I am really really impressed with Jeremy Evans.
      - He just needs to add 20 pounds... then he will be a monster
      - Oh my gosh, I have never seen anybody jump like that and jump so quick...
      - He goes after the ball... it's ridiculous
      - He can jump 3 times before you jump once
Those comments are from Deron. Apparently several other players mentioned being impressed with him in interviews.

Sounds an awful lot like a certain young Russian kid when he joined the team. I wonder how Evans' defensive instincts are.

        • "It's not the first time he's been involved in trade talks, so I don't think it's a big deal," Williams said. "He's my teammate right now; that's where I stand. He's our teammate until he gets traded."
Kind of an odd comment from Deron.

Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

Really weird. Talk about making things awkward with that kind of comment.

              • What is Hornacek's position with the team this year? Anything definite?

Gordon Hayward working one-on-one with Jeff Hornacek. A lot of midwest talent there.
Hayward last player on the court. Working one on one with a coach. Threes and free throws.

                • Probably still just part-time coach for the guy who want to work with him.

                  • Got to the gym tonight in time to watch the 4th quarter of the Jazz/Blazers game 6 1992 Western Conference Finals. It was a great 4th to watch.

Here is the Jazz scoring in that quarter
                    Ty Corbin 8
Mike "The Brown Bear" Brown 3
                    Blue Edwards 2
                    Karl Malone 2 (2-2 FTs)
                    John Stockton 2 (2-2 FTs)

It was epic. Jeff Malone my new least favorite NBA player. Steve Snapper Jones talked about how much the Jazz missed David Benoit who must have been hurt, I don't remember, that was probably the only time anyone ever said that.

They showed a stat for the series that said the Blazers were 32/73 from 3 for the series and the Jazz were 9/39. Ainge, Porter, Cliff Robinson (maybe the first guy to really rock the headband?) and Clyde destroyed us.

Man I loved the NBA then, I still really like watching it but it will never be the same.

                    • Welcome to the NBA Gordon Hayward.

Sounds like he's made his choice in wheels and picked up a new... Honda Accord. Seriously, I think he may be the only player in the league that rolls in a Honda.

Still unaccustomed to the actual purchase power of his newfound riches, Hayward — 20-year-old Hoosier, Jazz rookie millionaire, newly minted Larry H. Miller dealership loyalist — is not nearly spoiled enough yet to think so ostentatiously.
                      He got a Honda Accord.
"That's a good, practical car for me," Hayward said Tuesday, after his first session of fall two-a-day training camp. "The first car I've ever owned, so that was real exciting when I drove off with it the first time."

                        That's awesome.

I saw Paul Millsap in a Toyota sedan during his rookie season -- I'm sure he has upgraded big-time by now.

It reminds me of how John Stockton described his rookie season where he ate his mom's frozen lasagna every night in his small studio apartment. He said his first real purchase was a TV so he could watch the Super Bowl.

                          • When I asked Williams about Carmelo, however, his reponse was succinct.

"I really don't care," Williams said. "I could care less. It's kind of like the LeBron [James] thing this summer. It gets annoying. It gets old and it's not going to affect me -- what I do here."
I guess Deron enjoyed "The Decision" about as much as the rest of us did.

Word passed down from above that Gordon Hayward's Facebook account that has recently stirred up some controversy is not his.
                              What was the controversy?

I found this. Looks like the Miller son is giving him a personalized, embossed BOM during his mission farewell. I hadn't heard that he received his call. Where is he headed?
