Dante Exum + two 2nds to Cleveland for Jordan Clarkson.

For a team that needs some offense, I’ll take it. Plus Clarkson is expiring after this year. So I think it’s a win. They needed to do something. And I’m not sure they were gonna get much more for Dante.

Clarkson may be the biggest black hole in the NBA. He has Kobe’s insane confidence with a shot closer to Shaq. I’ve never been a fan of JC.

If he isn't injured 90% of the time and is actually available to play, it's a step up from Exum, unfortunately.

Clarkson's TS% is currently sitting at 58% on the season. He keeps that up, he helps the team. If he regresses to his career average of 53%, he most likely hurts the team. really that simple.

not a promising start for JC in this respect. 4-12 and 1-6 FGs. reflected in a team low +/- of -14.

He'll be a good addition. But I mostly want to flip him for Iguodala. Maybe Memphis does that just to save 3 million?

again, with him, because he's pretty much a scorer and nothing else, it's all about his efficiency in terms of whether or not he's a good addition.

bump re: conley being a poor fit for this jazz team. i can't really call it a swish because it wasn't really a prediction or even an opinion. i simply stated two facts and due to conley's injury we are seeing it play out.

in Conley's last 7 games played the Jazz were 3-4
in the last 7 games without Conley the Jazz are 6-1

re: point #1 - In those last 7 games sans Conley, in that lead guard position, Donovan Mitchell is averaging 27 pts and 7 assists.
re: point #2 - in those last 7 games without Conley, the Jazz are starting 6'7" Joe Ingles alongside Mitchell and yeah, they are 6-1.

This might be a misleading set of evidence. Conley goes out just as the jazz were ending a difficult part of their schedule. So of course their record improves over the next ten games or so when the strength of team they are playing goes way down. Moreover, without Conley it is obvious that Mitchell’s scoring must go up to take up the loss. In addition, Mitchell is simply playing better now than earlier in the year.

Finally, the jazz’s net rating with Conley and Mitch is much higher than without Conley.

Net rating with Mike and Don on the court together: +7.8 Net rating with Don and no Mike: +0.8 #notreallydebatable

So while your argument might turn out to
Be correct, I don’t think you can base it on this limited set of evidence.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but using the team’s overall record over that time is a dumb metric to use. The last 4 losses with Conley were on the road against 4 of the 6 best teams in the East. Their lone loss in the last 7 without Conley was also their only road game against a team above .500 (Miami—who just happens to be one of the best teams in the east). So I’m not really thinking wins against the Blazers, Hornets, Hawks, Warriors, and TWolves is solid proof that the team has been markedly better during this most recent stretch.

Overall record wasn’t the only metric I used. Donovan is also have his best stretch of the season. But they are both dumb with such a small sample.

It will be interesting to see it play out. Having Conley play 28 minutes a night a night has to be a good thing. The starters have carried a heavy load and I think its reflected in their poor defensive rating the last month.

I think having some relief off the bench (instead of rehab corner) is going to pay dividends in the 4th quarter, which is generally when we s#t the bed because our game-savers are exhausted, e.g. Miami last week.
