  • That roster is better than 26 wins. Lee, Gallinari, Harrington, TMac, House, Sergio Rodriguez...and in the Eastern conference?

(I know not all those guys have been there the full year, but Nate is a better bench player than either House or Rodriguez)
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

I disagree. I was actually hoping for a top 2-3 draft pick going into this season based on that roster.

So, as Jazz fans we should feel fortunate to be getting the 8th or so overall pick, because it should be around 10-11?

He was coach of the year in Phoenix and had some very good teams there. He had a PG who never sniffed a MVP prior to be coached by him, win two consecutive. I don't remember why he left Phoenix - what I do know is that they have been worse since he left.
Weird windmill to tilt at, SMR. Suggesting Mike made Nash an MVP is laughable. Nash was simply the best PG in the league by miles and Mike's style was perfect for Nash's unselfish and uptempto style. D'Antoni was run from Phoenix for NOT WINNING WITH THE MVP and for not playing any semblance of defense. Also, you suggested Mike's teams win. Losing on average 2 of 3 games is not winning. It has nothing to do with championships it has to do with finishing higher than 10th place in a conference of 2 teams.

BTW, did I miss something or is Phoenix not currently in the hunt for 2nd place in the West right now? Like I said, weird argument.

I was hoping for a top 2-3 based on that roster as well, but I never thought it was realistic. What does my/our hope have to do with whether they underperformed?

Well, you have an expectation going into the season and my hope was based on that expectation - in my opinion they have exceeded that expectation.

Phoenix was 46-36 in their first year without D'Antoni - by far their worst year since he became their HC. They are on pace for about 52-53 wins this year which would have been a below average year for D'Antoni.

The Knicks won 23 games the year before D'Antoni and then won 32 in his first year with the team.

My hope was 2-3, my expectation was that they'd be challenging for the playoffs (I think their roster is pretty comparable in talent to Charlotte, or Milwaukee sans Michael Redd).

I think they've underperformed based on their talent, just not the extent I wanted them to.

Fair enough. Apparently I don't hold Harrington, Lee, Gallo, Chandler and company in as high regard as you.

So right now he's still never won as many games in a year as Isiah? Our benchmark for coaching is now Isiah? I don't like where this argument is headed.

What high regard is that? I said the Bobcats and Milwaukee sans Redd.

                      Charlotte's squad is Felton/Jackson/Wallace/Diaw/Ratliff and Milwaukee is Jennings/Salmons/Delfino/Mbah a Moute/Bogut.

I'm not talking about a substantial amount of talent, I'm talking about borderline playoff teams in the East.

Sorry, that wasn't a shot at you. I should have said I hold them in lower regard.

I agree. That Knicks team sucks. David Lee is the only guy worth a damn on that squad.

I am not a Mike D'antoni fan either but I think there are some teeth to the argument that he made Nash a two-time MVP (I am okay with the first, but the second? ). Nash flourished under his run and gun system and he was finally able to play the style that maximizes his skillset.

So what's the theory now? He's having arguably his best season.

Both the Suns and Knicks were better off with D'Antoni. The Suns were a completely different team as they went from being irrelevant to being contenders every season.

Sorry, but it is easy for me to understand why he keeps getting jobs.

Easy to say, but based on what?

And do any of the teams I mentioned have more than one player really worth a damn?
