That was a very oddly officiated game. Jazz got away with things also. Just weird. I've never seen someone get fouled above the foul line and get a layup and one out of it. Chris Paul got physically beat up and didn't get many calls. Just weird.

Agreed. I confess I enjoy lurking on CB during Jazz games that I'm watching because (as with any fan base) it's funny to watch them howl about the terrible officiating, when almost invariably there's some officiating errors the other way as well. The Warriors get away with a lot (esp. during crunch time when the announcers marvel at how the Dubs have really stepped up the D), but Curry, esp. away from the ball, may be the most mauled PG in the league without getting to the line--the contrast with him and Harden in this regard is striking, I think.

Ultimately, one accepts the fact that officiating will always be imperfect and that refs certainly aren't consciously favoring one side or the other. It's extremely rare when officiating makes the difference.

I'm looking forward to the series, as the Jazz will give the Warriors a much tougher test than the Clippers ever have in the past few years. I expect the Jazz to win two, but hopefully no more than that.

Warriors were lucky to get past the Blazers. With a couple of calls here and there - the Blazers could have handled them easily. Ref's totally called the series in the Warriors favor and the Blazers never had a chance.

Oh brother. Nobody rational expects Jazz to win against the Warriors. Including PAC. He's just being gracious. But if the Jazz do win a game, I'll be sure to remind you next year what the Jazz did against the Warriors.

I assume you meant "supports the position" and not simply "confirms." I'm also curious if the differences noted are statistically significant given that the numbers come from only 4% of the entire minutes played (I acknowledge the author's Trump-like "And league sources who have seen the data that includes all 48 minutes of every game, not just the close ones, indicate that the Jazz face a major disadvantage overall.") and if the data in the fourteen months following the article would change the overall conclusions.

But I'll accept the "Everyone hates the Jazz" argument and hope it continues for another couple of weeks. That said, it would be interesting to know (but not so interesting as to be worth my researching) if other data (e.g., fouls per defensive possession, total fouls per game, etc.) confirm (!) that the Jazz are the most maligned. And I'd like to know if the data support Jazz fans' (and others') suspicions that the disparities are the result of league bias in favor of major markets vs. the backwater teams. I'm just thankful that the Warriors have apparently returned to the former category after a long sojourn in the latter.
