I actually doubt that he would've even made the final selection for the World Cup, not with Donovan, Altidore, and Ching be available.
Tim, I think he would've made it given his speed. I imagine it'll come down to who we draw against in the first round. Moot point now though.

Here's a fairly depressing CNN video about the probable uptick in prostitution during the World Cup. Apparently, sex can be had for $7 there. That's not good news for exploited children.

Is it worth $140k (for charity)?

I'm going to go ahead and predict today, el 29 de octubre 2009, that Argentina will not win the 2010 World Cup.

The chairman of the cultural activities committee for South Africa 2010 has proposed sacrificing a cow before the first game at each stadium as part of a cultural celebration of tradition, asking their ancestors to bless the games.

If this gets approved, look for PETA to erupt.

Apparently, South Africa is having problems with its national electrical grid, and now it needs a new president.

Imagine not having electricity due to a blackout during a world-class event.

So much goes into these things, you'd think they would've taken the grid structure into account. I imagine that Rio will have to look at this for the next World Cup and then their Olympic Games.

Maradona suspended for two months for telling his critics:

suck it and keep on sucking it.

I reiterate my assertion that Argentina will not win the World Cup as long as Diego Armando Maradona is the team's coach.

Ireland was robbed, that goal was a joke.
Too bad there won't be any online Zidane head-butting games this time around.

That's worse than Maradona vs. England in 1986.

I agree, I think we have a great chance of advancing from group play and I like who we could play in the round of 16 if we do advance. We are positioned to make some noise. Italy got a good draw both for group and the first round. Brazil got hosed, but if anyone can make it out of group G, Brazil can.
