I'm a doubting Thomas because this is exactly what he's expected to say. FIFA inspected the venues this week and they've concluded that South Africa is on schedule to be ready for the games.

The Bolivian National team has gone on strike and will refuse to play in their last two matches of an administration dispute. They're dead rubbers anyway because Brasil has already qualified, and Peru and Bolivia are out of the running. The nation will have to field a youth team vs. Brasil. That should be educational for the kids. I wonder what the final score will be...maybe Brasil will treat it like a friendly and not run it up too badly.
The players are striking because there are three governing bodies in Bolivian football, and they want one unified organization, which seems logical. But, Bolivia has three capitals, so this kind of thing might seem logical to them culturally.
As a humorous aside, Bolivia has a navy.

I would absolutely love to attend this. South Africa is a beautiful country, and I was there for the 2002 World Cup. South Africans loved their team (Bafana Bafana!) and it became a focal point for the country; something everyone could support, regardless of race.Comment
