Shanny is either just crazy or he's crazy like a fox. Competition at every position will either bring this team together or drive it apart. Reports have Clinton Portis at the facility every day lifting and working out with 95% attendance out of the other players.

2nd-round pick and a conditional 3rd/4th. Seems like you'd want a better deal if you're going to trade him within the division.

Wow. The Eagles decided to honor McNabb's wishes that he go to a contender if he is to be traded and would not go to Oakland. Pretty classy thing to do. But incredibly stupid at least in the short term. The Eagles though have a ton of picks now and look to restock the cupboards.

Great trade for the Redskins. They got him for almost nothing. Now they just need to protect him. If they can get Okung and another lineman in the draft they could be putting something together that should give them immediate results. Jason Campbell is all but gone next year. So I wonder who the odd man out is going to be since they brought in Rex Grossman. Most likely Brennan. But what do they do with Campbell because I doubt he sticks around to be the backup? He should have sat on the contract extension.

I don't know what the Redskins' plan is long term though. They cut a ton of guys in what looked like an attempt to get younger and have now signed a QB and two RBs in their 30's. And they still haven't addressed any of their needs on the offensive line. I guess they're just looking to win now.

I was really surprised by the trade. True, McNabb has missed several games due to injury over the past few years. But going into the season with Kolb and Vick as the QB options is concerning. I hope the draft picks can be parlayed into some good talent and that the in-division trade doesn't come back to bite them in the butt.

This is great for the Skins. They will now move Campbell for a 3rd or 4th round pick. They keep picking up guys with something to prove for very little. It's such a smart strategy that as a Skins fan it's hard to digest. No question that they must now protect him, but this really could make the Skins a play off team over night. Could. We'll see.

McNabb, a six-time Pro Bowl quarterback, led the Eagles to five NFC championship games and one Super Bowl in 11 seasons in Philadelphia. His failure to lead the team to its first NFL championship since 1960 plus the emergence of Kevin Kolb made him expendable.

McNabb, the No. 2 overall pick in the 1999 draft, leaves as the franchise leader in yards passing (32,873), completions (2,801), attempts (4,746), completion percentage (59.0) and touchdown passes (216). He also rushed for 3,249 yards and 28 TDs.

Kolb, who has started two games in three seasons, becomes the starter. Michael Vick is the backup. Both have one year remaining on their contracts.

It is one of those rare trades that will work out for both teams I think. Like UD said, the skins will get something for Campbell and they'll have the chance to draft Okung at 4, trade down, or take the "best player available," which would not have been Jimmy Clausen.

Philly has really benefited from having great young talent on offense the last couple years, but it will be interesting to see what those guys look like with Kolb. It is not out of the realm of possibility that McNabb had a big part in that. We might suddenly find this year that Kelly or Thomas is that break out guy.

I'm not saying I know, but if I were a Eagles fan, I would want to wait and see if all these young guys look just as good without McNabb.
