Utah cancelling series vs BYU thread

This is exactly what I meant by Utah big timing BYU. The Utes hate us so much that taking a game away that we "want" means that they permanently win. That they are on such an exalted plain that they don't need us anymore and while they could play us out of pity, we don't appreciate it.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostNo we're not. Utah cancelling the games reinforces that Utah is now on a higher tier and really the cost-benefit analysis of continuing the series doesn't pencil out for Utah. This is what's most damaging to BYU and why BYU is now always the side that wants the game the most at any level--fans, coaches, administrators. Kentucky refused to play Louisville for decades; it only plays that one game now because Louisville finally earned it. I think it's been really stupid of UW and Wasu to keep playing Gonzaga, although now that they've lost repeatedly to Gonzaga they're kind of stuck. But here in Washington they really don't get tribalism and blood feuds. This is the perfect moment to show BYU how little Utah respect them. When Utah has beaten BYU repeatedly.
Those Ute fans who support this are the ones who really take the Rivalry most seriously, because they're the ones who want to actually kill BYU, to utterly destroy BYU, by any means necessary. I'm sure Kyle wants to be done with BYU forever. The Ute fans like LAUte and Applejack who are not on Larry's and Chris's side must secretly love BYU, which disappoints me greatly. BYU delenda est!
I want nothing more to do with them ever. Fuck em.

One positive with this debacle is that it has eviscerated the notion that SU was somehow a better poster than LA Ute ever.Originally posted by creekster View PostOh, I know we arent really done. You'll be back the next time there is some turd to polish.
But you, of all people, know very well what I meant by that phrase.Last edited by pelagius; 01-07-2016, 12:43 PM.

Honestly, I love the attitude coming from Utah's athletic department and fans. I would love it if Utah stopped playing all in-state schools in all sports. I don't put it past Utah to think that it would be a good idea, that they are above all of the other lowly schools in this state, but it would be a bad idea. Majerus thought that he didn't need to recruit local players. It didn't go well. The same thing would happen. Pretending that you are big time would hurt attendance and recruiting.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostNo we're not. So, go ahead Utah. Stop playing BYU. You will miss us more than we miss you.

SU and LAU are really just two extreme sides of the same coin. I wouldn't be surprised to find out both posters were actually characters created by DDD.Originally posted by pelagius View PostOne positive with this debacle is that it has eviscerated the notion that SU was somehow a better poster than LA Ute.Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. Majerus didn't recruit in-state, you say? This is hilarious on so many levels. One of them is that it's just demonstrably false. The other is that I'm sure one objective of this is to help Utah get more in-state recruits.Originally posted by Bigfoot is Cain View PostHonestly, I love the attitude coming from Utah's athletic department and fans. lol, you're starting to sound like lau.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostSafety is a pretext. I agree. The whole overwrought, poisonous rivalry doesn't work for Utah anymore. BYU has a lot more to gain, and Utah has a lot more to lose. It's that simple.
This rivalry, which isn't going away, doesn't work for the uofutah because the more vocal part of your fanbase is a bunch of assholes and embarrasses the university and the state. Aspire for something more. They'll still be there tomorrow if you don't.
BYU will be just fine sans the uofutah. The Mormon Church isn't going anywhere and will still dominate the state of Utah for years to come. coach larry brett is alienating the very base he needs to capture.
I'm not at all worried if we never play you p
ssies again, even in women's volleyball. BYU will do very well.
Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!
For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.
Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Actually, I agree with you. The rivalry transcends the games. It's just that you're going to lose, inexorably; like the Ottoman Empire's destiny.Originally posted by myboynoah View Postlol, you're starting to sound like lau.
