  • I am really torn. I think that the decision to stop the rivalry game is stupid. Also, it reeks of Chris Hill's cologne, more than it does LK's seasoned musk.

...BUT, watching BYU fans panties in a deeper and tighter wad than when the proctologist got the cable on his ass-cam all kinked up in there, is pretty funny to me.

    • Of course, this all makes sense... Dr. Hill has a history of being very concerned for the safety of the student athletes there at the Salt Lake community school:

Students, parents claim University of Utah ignored coach's abusive behavior

      [...]
"Utah did nothing," Suzanne Jurgens, whose daughter swam for Utah in 2008-09 before deciding to transfer, told Yahoo! Sports. "Utah covered this whole thing up, big time. None of us could get Utah to look at the abuse or take anybody seriously."

When reached for comment, Hill's office referred all inquiries to the university's legal counsel. In response to an inquiry from Yahoo! Sports, Robert Payne, associate general counsel for the University of Utah, wrote, "the Office of General Counsel does not speak on behalf of the University."

Suzanne Jurgens wrote her first letter to Hill on May 8, 2009, after learning her daughter, Lauren Hewson, was forced to swim underwaters with a mesh bag over her head. In the letter, she wrote, "human decency has been violated."

This week, in a phone interview, Jurgens said her frustration has not abated, even though her daughter transferred from Utah four years ago.

"Utah did not respond at all," Jurgens said. "I never heard from Chris Hill."

Jurgens is not alone in her feelings or her experiences, which she learned about very quickly from her daughter.

Hewson noticed erratic behavior displayed by Winslow almost from the moment she started swimming for Utah in 2008. Before the team received its equipment, Hewson said, a teammate, Major Robinson, brought a blue kickboard to the pool and Winslow became upset because blue was a BYU color. She said the coach threw a metal chair into the pool and ordered Robinson to do laps while keeping the chair out of the water.

LOL. Utah is dumb but I am enjoying this immensely. But not to disappoint you I promise to kill 3 Utah fans at RES this fall and blame it on the basketball series cancellation.

          • This is astonishing. Coach K and Chris Hill have zero awareness. This was an incredibly dumb move on so many levels.

LOL! What Dr. Hill has a history of, is being vindictive, esp. re. BYU, and the media.

                      Warning Will Robinson!!!

Wally, be careful around here. Dangerous bunch of BYU Fans. I suggest you follow the example of your coach and leave.

Cancelling 2016's Holy War won't be the ceasefire Utah's hoping for
                      Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Yes. He's gone all holier-than-thou on Emery's "Now stay down, bitch!" comment. And he's glad he didn't go to the Miracle Bowl 2.

                        What a dope.

                            • Pace Manion on the radio this morning talking about it. Had some pretty good takes:

A cooling off period won't fix anything. The time in between is likely to make things worse, not better.

Back when he was playing it was a battle. No punches thrown that he recalls, but always very physical. Stuff that would've been been deemed a flagrant foul was just looked at as a "hard" foul back then. There was all kinds of pushing, elbows, etc.

It's silly to cancel the series over this. Sports are emotional, things happen. Punches have no place in basketball and are uncalled for, but saying that the game is cancelled because of risk to players is silly. Every player knows that every game there is risk of injury, etc.

They tried to get him to comment on Emery's punch. He said it was difficult to comment on without putting things into context, and he had only seen the highlight of the punch. Would need to take into account what had been happening the rest of the game, what was said, etc. All that considered, punches are never an acceptable response.

They were also reading stuff from Utah fans justifying the cancellation because BYU has a reputation now for being dirty and doesn't hold their players accountable when they make a dirty play. The radio hosts mentioned that Emery missed the same number of games that Henderson did - silly Ute fan. They also mentioned that there was only one player ejected from the football game for dirty play. And he was a Ute.

Personally - I like the rivalry game and I'd rather they play it. But I'm kinda over the princess Ute coaches and athletic department.

It's irritating that BYU has had some player behavior that gives them the ammunition. But I'm getting to the point where I just don't care. Too much drama. Play or don't play. Whatever.

Texas A&M fans are rioting in the streets! Cal fans are on a hunger strike! LOL!

Sure, the media is eviscerating LK and rightfully so. (CHill needs to share a little more of that spotlight, IMO) Only BYU and Utah fans will be still talking about this in 3 days from now though.

I am sick of people forgetting that BYU and Utah are inexorably connected. 40 Miles apart. split families. there is no getting away from the gravitational pull toward this conflict, and despite what the hymn declares, the conflict will NEVER be o'er (over?), but we are all still enlisted.
