It's a great hire. Even though football owns the South, their is a ton of basketball talent down there and Pearl is a great coach.

The risk is that you have to accept the penalty or contest it. I guess his penalty only goes until August 2014. Your worst case scenario is that he can't recruit in Spring and Summer. Maybe with a school like Auburn that hasn't done anything in a long time, you live with the potential lost recruiting class for 1 year.

that really isn't a risk as much of a cost. And besides, they can always contest and show cause. It really isn't risky at all, unless the vols thought pearl would be likely to transgress in the future. That would be a risk.

There's a few things you can depend on every year, one of which is the New Mexico Lobos never making it out of the first weekend of games.

BYU certainly hasn't been a stalwart either.
