  • I think KSL may have jinxed Delon.

    Look at his numbers:

Preseason against the 345th SOS in the country and teams like St. Katherines, UC Davis, Evergreen, Lamar, Savannah State, Grand Canyon, Ball State and Texas State he shoots: 67% from the floor and has a 3 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. That is great, and clearly he was getting a lot of layups.

    Moving on to Pac-12 play
He shoots 51% from the floor and has a 1.7 assist to turnover ratio.

    Now to postseason play
He shoots 29% from the floor, and has a 1.5 to 1 assist to turnover ratio.

Best player in the state against bad teams, he deserves that title for sure. He killed those NAIA schools. Imagine if he attended one of them he would be an all-American.

Just for fun Vs WCC schools:

42% from the floor, 0% from three, 14 assists and 10 turnovers.

He should stick to the pac-12 he seems to play better against that mediocre conference. He basically puts up Matt Carlino numbers against WCC schools and he wouldn't have even made the all-conference team.

    • Yikes. Not a good showing, Funk. The Utes played poorly as well.

Plus, it is very difficult to beat SMC when Waldowminique is going off.
        Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Waldow and LeVesque (the #1 and #3 scorers for St. Marys) combined to go 3-20 from the floor and Stephen Holt (arguably the best all around player on the team) fouls out with 6 minutes left and the team down 9.

Yet somehow they win by double digits.

Not a good look for the Utes. The WCC depth is no joke!

I now pronounce the Ute win over the Cougars a FLUKE that happens sometimes.

Apparently Levesque had pneumonia and was cleared before the game.

              • Pretty soon we are going to hear about pre-game team food poisoning.

Me either. That ignores some history. We are at least Cougarboard 3.0.

                      1. Embarrass yourself
                      2. Make reference to Cougarboard as an escape hatch

Yeah, this looks like a funk argument.

Does that make UB5, Cougarboard 4.0?

                          3. Start referring to the black hawks because nobody cares enough to argue with you.

I should have been more clear. It wasn't from your post but from the discussions here before the coach K hire. The imminent PAC12 membership created a delusion among some Ute fans. There was even a thread here about Utah luring Rose away from BYU.

Loveridge was hot out of the gate hitting 6-8, including some treys. We started cold. That was basically the margin of victory. We were pretty much even the rest of the way. It was bound to happen at some point. We can't beat Utah every time forever.

                              • I have said it a million times...teams like Utah don't have to play in the grind of a conference like the WCC where night in and night out they play real talented teams. Sure, with BYU and Utah this year, the Utes got up for their one game season. They can beat anybody once a year, but if they get into the meat of the WCC talent shines through. They just don't have the depth to hang in there. That's what happens when you are in a mid-major conference.
