Partially on the one game and partially on the fact that Utah was seeded below SMC in the NIT and the seedings are based on an assessment of performance over the entire season.
I was also following your lead. This is what you were saying after watching only the first half:
My comment was based on more than one game. Utah wouldn't lose a single home game in the WCC. Road losses to St Mary's, Zags, byu, and one more. That is good enough for 3rd.

I am not as pessimistic as you about Kodiak as you guys like to call him. He has the Utes playing hard and their defense is a lot better than BYU's. But their half court offense is terrible when Wright is defended well and kept out of the lane. Loveridge is so passive. He starts hot and then you won't hear his name for 20 minutes. Plus he needs to play down low more. He just hangs around the perimeter. You can't rebound or get to the line there. Overall, I think they still lack enough talent to be really competitive in the Pac 12 (their improvement in conference play this year is a reflection of the mediocrity of the conference though). That should improve with Chapman and Kuzma next year. However, what is concerning about Special K is his inability to recognize momentum slipping away or turning. He should have used timeouts to settle that team down long before the Gaels rallied. The team doesn't have a leader on the floor so that has to be the Coach. The struggles on the road are disconcerting, but worse are the late game collapses. That is a direct reflection of the coach and that would have me worried the most as a Ute fan. That has to be addressed. I also don't like what he said after the game, wondering if he even has the right offense for his team. That's not something you share at all, let alone in your last interview.
Thanks to SU and MP I was bummed to see the Utes beating up on St. Mary so turned to another channel. In deference to the Ute fans who are reasonable when it comes to the rivalry, I won't ask how did this happen?
Pathetic and embarrassing loss. This is why I'm not sold on Krystkowiak. He is now 3 seasons in and each a failure.

How is this an embarrassing loss? Not only was SMC seeded higher, but they were at home and blew the utes out. Perhaps it was embarrassing that they got blown out, but the loss itself isn't embarrassing as SMC is clearly the better team.

Perhaps he has bought into the PAC10 home of champions BS. It doesn't take long to embrace the major conference elitism. I actually would welcome the opportunity to succumb to it.
Yes. You won the first half. Quite handily, in fact.

The sequence at the end of the first half where we had a chance to get the lead to 14 or so and it ended up around 7 spelled trouble for me. I cut my losses, caught some z's and hoped for the best.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
