Shabazz Muhammad to UCLA. The Bruins have two of the top 5 recruits in the country. No. 2 and No. 5.When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

lolOriginally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWhat a bunch of morans. And Howland chief of them all. Impossible to hate on Wooden and to destroy the remnants of what he built there but Howland seems to be doing a pretty decent job of imploding that place. I have never really agreed with getting rid of Lavin. The guy was a good coach, and by all accounts he was a good guy.
I cant remember the name of the player...he was a nobody and didnt play much at all, but he was on the Petros and Money show once talking about the decision he faced between going to some Ivy league school and being a serious student or going to UCLA and trying to walk on and fulfill his dream of making the team. His dad counseled him that a degree from an Ivy would be awesome, but to be able to tell people that he played basketball for UCLA would open far more doors for him throughout life (also, it isnt like a degree from fucla hurts you much, either). So the guy goes to westwood, walks on, barely ever plays, graduates, and goes on to make a load of dough in his career. but he says that of all his accomplishments, nothing stops conversations like when he tells people he played at UCLA. As ridiculous as that stupid 8 count sounds, it means something to play for that school. There are only a handful of hoops programs that can really truly claim such a thing and UCLA is one of them. How some of these kids piss away that opportunity is beyond me. It sounds like Howland is playing a major role is such a shocking lack of discipline. Compare and contrast to Wooden's quiet, dignified discipline, when Wooden only had to tell Walton once to shave and cut his hair and that was the end of that. Wooden called Kareem "Lewis" until the day he died and Kareem never protested. Howland has guys getting wasted on ecstasy and punching each other in practice. sheesh. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Huge failure by Rice to lose a guy he was basically hired to get. Even with his brother as the high school coach he cannot get the top Bishop Gorman recruits. Great choice by Muhammad.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostShabazz Muhammad to UCLA. The Bruins have two of the top 5 recruits in the country. No. 2 and No. 5.

Well stated, it's now been confirmed that Rice is no Tarkanian. He's in a lot of trouble.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostHuge failure by Rice to lose a guy he was basically hired to get. I have absolutely nothing against Rice. I'm sure he is a fine individual, but BYU fans started this war, see cougjunkie's thread.Originally posted by kccougar View PostLOL. Did Dave Rice once kick your dog or something, funk?
Sometimes it is okay to admit that a guy that you liked failed. Rice's brother is Muhammad's high school coach, so he has a huge in with Muhammad. Basically, no other school in the country has the connections with Muhammad that Dave Rice had. Muhammad is also a local recruit. Rice has a great program with a great history to sell to Muhammad. Losing out on Muhammad was a huge failure. Even more concerning with all the advantages that UNLV had, Rice couldn't even get Muhammad to include UNLV in his top 3.
Bishop Gorman was Rice's biggest recruiting in and it is panning out for him as a head coach. He has now lost 2 players coached by his brother to Pac-12 schools. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression
