He's just rushing things and settling for that 3. He needs to put the ball on the floor. I am confident that he'll get it together. At this point I wish he would have redshirted.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostDude is just not feeling it this year. Pretty awful shooting. The next step in his progression is hitting the rim instead of the side of the backboard or, well, nothing. You can do it Damarcus!Originally posted by Eddie View PostI was just thinking - Harrison obviously isn't shy to take the shots coming in as a freshman. But it would be nice if his accuracy would improve.

BYU lookin' good, yet the more I watch them -- have personally seen 7 games -- the more I seriously question their defense.
They are beating the same teams that Gonzaga is beating and losing vs the same teams as Gonzaga, YET giving up many more pts on defense. That said, scoring more as well.
Should be an interesting match-up if you review the offensive & defensive efficiencies & results.
BYU's defense is pretty porous, yet the offense is the most balanced I've seen in years. You guys really miss Jackson & it shows. Multiple players have stepped up to fill the shoes for Jimmer on offense, although impossible, its created more mis-matches and balance, inside & out.
Still really curious about the defense. . . I thought Gonzaga played like crap when we held Santa Clara to 60 pts. Even St Mary's smoking are arse scored way less...
Our game is a great match-up ...wow. Also, don't worry much about SMC, they've been atrocious on the ROAD in past seasons and this year is no different.

Do you think Ashley Hamilton (The 2nd leading scorer for LMU who was out for the BYU game but was in for the Gonzaga game) will play well when LMU comes to Provo? He didn't play against BYU when the Cougars played LMU in LA (he did, however, play in the game tonight against Gonzaga). He is the 2nd leading scorer on LMU who has been out with an injury (including the BYU game... he returned tonight against Gonzaga).Originally posted by higherroad View PostBYU lookin' good, yet the more I watch them -- have personally seen 7 games -- the more I seriously question their defense.

I got excited when I saw the title of this thread, thinking maybe there was another Denver Broncos game and I'd been watching the wrong one.

While I'm not going to say BYU's defense is good - because I don't think it is - (particularly outside the 3 pt line) you have to keep in mind the pace of the game. BYU likes to run. They don't use much shot clock on most possessions, which results in more possessions and more opportunities.Originally posted by higherroad View PostBYU lookin' good, yet the more I watch them -- have personally seen 7 games -- the more I seriously question their defense.

In your comparison of points scored - did you happen to look at the number of possessions or even the number of shots taken by each team?

As far as tempo goes KenPom has BYU ranked 13 in tempo. And what may surprise higherroad, 17th in defense.Originally posted by Eddie View PostWhile I'm not going to say BYU's defense is good - because I don't think it is - (particularly outside the 3 pt line) you have to keep in mind the pace of the game. I know I've said it before and it has been said again in this thread but they call waaaaay too man charges in this conference. I know Davies is one of the primary beneficiaries of it, but I'd much prefer the refs not call an offensive foul every time a defender hits the deck. It has hurt us a lot too, particularly in transition where the refs love to call a charge after the pass even on the slightest contact.

While the WCC officials are particularly egregious, it's really a college basketball problem. It's terrible. But yeah, the WCC refs are not very good. Jimmer would have got 15 points a game at the line in this conference.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostI know I've said it before and it has been said again in this thread but they call waaaaay too man charges in this conference. I can remember only one charging foul being called tonight. That is mostly because Santa Clara never got back in time to set the defense (16-0 for BYU on the fast break) and they didn't have anyone on offense that could either drive the lane or back in low.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostI know I've said it before and it has been said again in this thread but they call waaaaay too man charges in this conference.
