He was the starting point guard on an unbelievable team with Keena Young, Trent Plaisted, Lee Cummard, Tavernari, Balderson, Mike Rose and Sam Burgess. It was Dave Rose 2nd year and they won 25 games (and have won at least 25 in every year since).

Maybe a more apt statement would be came in very overrated and left very underrated.
I loved his aggressive attitude of advancing the ball up the court to get easy fast-break buckets. I don't think anyone since has been quite as aggressive at early offense.

      Nathan Call

Yes, he was the PG when I was just old enough to play church ball. He was a decent scoring threat and solid at the position for the couple years he played. I think the Reid brothers took over after him, and I never like Robbie/Randy so I continued to be a Call fan.

Call was good. Probably top five in the last 30 years.

It's a slow-motion train wreck, the kind that will be going on for weeks at least. I can afford to turn away from it for brief intervals to enjoy this thread.

This reminds me of what Orson F. Whitney once famously said: "We will yet have Miltons and Shakespeares of our own." (That prediction has fueled the dreams of countless BYU creative writing students.) Someone needs to give a talk about how we will yet have Oscar Robertsons and Jerry Wests of our own. It'll inspire a lot of kids to work on their jump shot.

LA is getting his snark on today.
                            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

I was talking with someone earlier today about how we Mormons (not just BYU fans) tend to get ahead of ourselves in our hopes for the future. This thread reminded me of that, for some reason....

LA, this feels just like 2005 in football. Keep telling yourself that, because Utes always get the last laugh. It's true, we always do. The reason is we're more righteous, and I don't say that facetiously.

Also, calling BYU PG U is classic goat. Remember when he used to say Bronco is a GREAT coach, and Whit is a Very Good coach?
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.
