(OK, I made that up. But it could happen.)
A college hoops fan talking to you about sports? Sorry, Doubt that could happen.

The BYU Motion Picture Studio was abuzz with excitement over the coming opportunities.

I think that as BYU becomes PG U, we'll see similar success in the world of sports as doors are flung open worldwide to missionaries wearing Jimmer's photo on their name badges. It is inspiring to see the labors of Dick Nemelka, Danny Ainge and Trent Whiting bearing fruit.
      Embarrassing.

At one point I was discouraged, dirty, tired and utterly dismayed. I was in the prone on a miserable late afternoon on a cold drizzly day. Soaking wet, hungry and tired I could not recall the last time I had been warm. Suddenly at that point in time, nature called and I had to do a number 1. Temptation struck and I thought: "I could piss myself and at least for a few fleeting moments I will experience the joy of warmth. True, the coldness and dampness will return, but holy hell I am already nasty filthy, hungry, cold, wet and haven't slept more than 5 hours total the previous 3 days. At least for a few short momets I will bask in the warmth of my own piss in my wee-wee region." In short, I am not proud to admit this but I succumbed.

I know the temptation you are succumbing to my brother. So with a clenched right fist, I pound my chest right above my heart and invite you to piss away...piss away! The one or two fleeting moments of warmth will sustain you before you return to your noseguard turned D1 pg. BABY GOT BACK AND I CANNOT LIE! God bless and Happy New Year!
I think you just wrote the post of the year with only a few days to spare. Great stuff.

I think we need to get this thread back on track. I want to know how BYU is becoming known as, or is about to become known as, PG U. It looks like Carlino, after only a couple of games, already has to deal with the expectation that he will be just like the greatest shooter ever to play at BYU. Who else is in the pipeline, just in case Carlino falters? The Lord always prepares a back-up just in case one of the anointed ones is not living right on and off the field and ends up having to pump gas for a living.

Just having fun with my Cougar brethren. This thread is a blast. Just Google "Miltons and Shakespeares of our own," and you'll be amazed at the wealth of commentary and ambition inspired by that one Orson F. Whitney statement. A BYU prof has even written a sonnet about it. Surely as a BYU English major you ran into this phenomenon. There are even "Whitney Awards" given every year as LDS writers strive for Milton-level excellence:

              [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitney_Awards"]Whitney Awards - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]

So why should athletics be any different? All that is missing is someone in authority stating that we LDS "will yet have Oscar Robertsons and Jerry Wests of our own." That's all I am saying. It's pretty simple, and could be very inspiring to the rising generation. PG U, if not here already, is surely in the future. You must all continue to hope for things which are not seen, which are true.

Seriously it is awesome. The sad thing is BYU will have 8 consecutive years of great PG play by the time Carlino leaves. LAute might have a heart attack.

Just for comparisons sake here is Jimmers sophomore year vs Carlinos freshman year. The only reason I am using his sophomore year is because he didn't receive the minutes as a freshman.

                Jimmer:

                Minutes: 33/ FG% 48/ 3pt% 38/ PPG 16.2/ APG 2.57

                Carlino

                Minutes: 26.5/ FG% 55/ 3pt% 55/ PPG 17.3/ APG 4.75

How about for fun we compare Andre Millers senior season:

                Miller

                Minutes: 33.1/FG% 49.1/ 3pt% 26.5/PPG 15.8/APG 5.2

Carlino is a freshman he is the future.

In case you missed it he has better numbers in just about every category than Andre Miller did as a senior!

at the position: We've got a glorious recent past, a glorious present, hard to predict the future but it appears to be a pretty glorious next three and a half years. We've got a coach and a system that attracts these types of point guards and reloads at the other positions. Did you have something relevant you wanted to add to the discussion? So far, you seem to be just taking shots at LDS culture. Something somebody who whines about the nastiness of the foyer shouldn't do.

OK, I will quit. I hereby admit that you guy look good at the PG position. Good for you, I am envious. Someday we will be competitive with BYU again.

As for LDS culture, I am simply poking fun at a phenomenon, which I think arises from our apocalyptic theology: we Mormons tend to get ahead of ourselves when good things seem to be happening (like joyfully buying into Rodney Stark's projections on church growth). BYU true believers -- whether sports fans or just boosters of the university-- tend to get carried away even more than the general church membership does. You guys really should own that and maybe even have a sense of humor about it.

Anyway, if you want to talk about "mean," I think it was just horrible -- horrible!-- of Goat to bring stories about disgusting bodily functions into this thread. I know he feels bad about this and I accept his unspoken apology.
