Simple question. You own or are starting an NBA franchise, in what scenario would you ever choose Stockton (a fabulous player, I don't mean to discredit) over Magic?*Originally posted by Natethegreat View PostThats funny because BOTH those very same players said Stockton was the best point guard they ever played. In fact one was there for his induction into the hall of fame.
* The only acceptable answer is, if your fanbase is 99% white.

I could see both of these guys saying that Stockton was the best point guard they had ever played. I think I would pass out if either of them said he was better than they were.Originally posted by Natethegreat View PostThats funny because BOTH those very same players said Stockton was the best point guard they ever played. I'm also willing to bet that both have made multiple comments about who the "best" is that they've ever played.
I'm a huge Stockton fan. I think he should've shot the dang ball more. I don't think he was the player that Magic was.
I probably would've taken him over Isaiah, though. I mean, if Isaiah were on my team I'd have to listen to his squeaky/whinny little voice.

I haven't thought about this in a while, but most I life I wanted to believe Stockton was the greatest. Not so anymore.Originally posted by Natethegreat View PostThats funny because BOTH those very same players said Stockton was the best point guard they ever played. Nate, many here will be sympathetic to your view about this, but you're presenting your case in about the least effective way possible.

Did this shift coincide with your change towards a personal worldview of reason, logic and common sense?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

You guys can have Magic I'll take the all time leader in assists and steals (not even close by the way).
Magic was no doubt a great player but I'll still take the guy who is the leader statistically and considered by those he played against as the best.

I agree I would take the guy no championships as well. Because you don't play to win titles you play to rack up meaningless statistics.Originally posted by Natethegreat View PostYou guys can have Magic I'll take the all time leader in assists and steals (not even close by the way).

I am going with Stockton because Magic played for the Lakers and I hate the Lakers.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI agree I would take the guy no championships as well. Because you don't play to win titles you play to rack up meaningless statistics.

You seem rather worked up about this. Any particular reason?Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostI hope you have Ray Allen or Glen Rice at the 3 since Magic shot barely 30% from behind the arc in his career.
By the way I'd be more than happy to shove Magic over to three spot and insert Michael Jordan at the two.
