  • Utes, which recent player did you love the most?

The Jimmer love and emotional attachment that BYU fans have to him makes me wonder how people feel emotionally about our bona fide stars of recent times.

I have to say that even though 2005 roughly mirrors the season BYU just had that I didn't feel for Bogut what they appear to feel for Jimmer, though I did really like him. For me, for whatever reason, KVH was the guy I was most emotionally invested in. Not sure why.

    That's a tough question...
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

It's close between KVH or Andre

I may be small, but I'm slow.

A veteran - whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to, "The United States of America ", for an amount of "up to and including my life - it's an honor."

Bogut. He came to Utah as the best amateur big man on the planet and he delivered even beyond my wildest expectations. And after the junior worlds, he easily could have opened up his recruitment again, and he would have been a slam-dunk 5-star recruit by every service.

That he chose to honor that commitment puts him at the top; that he swept every major award as a sophomore puts a Grand Canyon-sized gap between him and whomever is No. 2 (something I've never even thought about, quite frankly).

His numbers would have been even more disgusting had Majerus not had the hare-brained idea to run our offense through Nick Jacobson. Bogut was our best player from Day 1. To me, he's the greatest player ever to set foot on Utah's campus.

Tough call. I had classes with both KVH and Andre and got to know them somewhat. Both were great people.

Bogut was a bit after my time, and didn't stick around nearly long enough. I enjoy seeing him succeed in the NBA, and in college he was Mr Dependable, but he didn't stick around long enough to make me feel like he was "part of the family". He was likely the very best player in the history of the school, but was not there long enough.

I pick KVH for posterizing Nathan Cooper (among others), and Andre a close second for just being a freakin' wizard.

That is a hard question. If Bogut had stayed for another year, I would probably include him in on it. He is such a personable guy and he would have been amazing with another year at the U. I picked Andre because he was just so much fun to watch and he really was the motor on those teams. KVH went thru the most with the team...from the crappy seasons, dad dying, etc, and his fabulous buzzer beating shots. Close between all three.

I have tons of other favorites over the years such as Manny Hendrix, Jerry Stroman, Mitch Smith, Marc Jackson, Drew Hansen, Josh Grant...I sure hope that the Utes can get back to the way they were.

I started watching the Utes when Ticky Burden and Mike Soujoner(SP) took second in the NIT. IIRC Jeff Jonas and Jeff Judkins were also on that team.

They are my second favorite College BB team and 3rd College FB team. That is definately heresy, but in the words of the immortal Walter Cronkite "That's the way it is."

Easy answer for me, Andre Miller. I'm sure my answer will shock a lot of people. I will readily admit that I'm a huge Andre Miller homer.

Duh. Kyle Van Noy's initials are KVN, not KVH.

Upon Van Horn's efforts, all of Majerus' success was built. No Van Horn, no NCAA in 1995-6, No E-8 in 97 and no Miller et al having the success that occurred after he left.

KVH was closely tied to the rise of Majerus era, and I guess that's why I feel a special affinity for him.

Alex Jensen is by far my favorite Basketball Ute ever. Great Guy, awesome defender, underated scorer and passer, whose only real weakness was that he was too unselfish.
