I couldn't find a flight for under $1,000 and that's with a 3 hour drive to Portland or Seattle.

EDIT: This isn't a humblebrag about me paying $$$$ for tickets. I'm not going to NOLA.

I put my wife and daughter on a plane this morning heading south. Meanwhile Salt Lake is a balmy 45. I regret I have but one job to lose if I were to go this weekend.

I'll be there, also flying standby.

          • I'm saving my money for Houston.

We were driving on Sunday and I put my wife on notice. I told her it was a bad time to go to the Sweet 16 and I thought we would make it again in a couple of years but the Final Four was unlikely to be repeated and if we went to Houston I would do whatever was necessary to go there. She said, "I figured. I'm surprised your not going to NoLa." DOH!!!

No kidding. Were that to happen I would spend just about any $ figure to be there.

I was considering buying a airfare last week when they were cheaper, and then canceling if they didn't make it. Prices have jumped a lot though and now it would be around $600-$650 to get airfare and the more desirable flight times are sold out. It will only go up.

                  • I'll be there.

Friday is the busiest day I've had in 6 months, and I'll probably pull in the driveway around 3-4am after driving back from NO, but I don't care.

If we win, I'm heading back on Saturday.

                    • If BYU wins Thursday you may want to check out Deltas flights for the weekend. They have fairly cheap last minute weekend flights.

                      • It is hard to tell what the ticket action is going to do. Right now it is predictably sky high. Generally prices drop but sometimes you have to wait until the buzzer.

There was a post earlier about BYU opening up ticket sales to everyone, which is true, but face is $185 so it isn't like they are giving them away.

I think junkie is right in that there will be tickets. Given the small size of the arena, I'm not sure there will be deals, though.

The 3 toughest tickets in my event-going career:
                        1. MLB all star game in Chicago at New Comiskey. Zero inventory on the street, regardless of price. My wife and I stood on the curb next to Antoine Walker trying to get tickets. We were all shut out. The only time I have ever been shut out of an event
                        2. final Four at Georgia Dome...Maryland v Indiana finals. The final four ticket was almost impossible. There seemed to be plenty of finals tickets for sale, though. For the Final Four game, scarce inventory, zero cheap deals.
                        3. MWC semi finals a couple of weeks ago. Insane, i was shocked. The four teams all have traveling fan bases to Vegas and there was a lot of hype. Scarce inventory and no cheap deals.

I don't think this will be as bad as any of those, but I find that with each successive round closer to the Final Four, the tickets become more and more scarce. Also, when buying a strip of 3 games, by definition, the first game is always the toughest ticket. The third game is easier because two fan bases have been eliminated.

Anyhow, given that this matchup is the front end game, I expect the ticket to be a tougher get, but who knows.

What are you all seeing out there? Has anyon found a deal out there?

                        • I was hoping to go; however, my wife had back surgery scheduled for next month that earlier this week was unexpectedly moved up to this Thursday, so she will be under the knife on game day, and in the hospital until Saturday or Sunday. If I go to NOLA, I should probably just stay there.

                          • PK was on the radio this morning giving in-depth analysis of the game and BYU's chances.

He says that if BYU shoots well from outside, they have a great shot and will likely win. But if they don't shoot well from outside they will lose.

Of course, it took him 15 minutes to spit it out. Maybe that's why those radio guys get the big bucks - they have a special way of using 30 minutes to make a 30 second comment. Gotta fill the airtime with something, you know...

How much of the time did he and DJ spend talking about themselves. That is my biggest problem with them. It seems everytime they talk about something, half of the time is spent intejecting comments about themselves.

Gah, I can come up with that analysis, and I don't even know very much! This has been the situation since they got to the NCAA tournament, it didn't matter as much against Wofford though.
