  • The Official 12 Pac basketball thread

I am inaugurating this thread that will exceed the Jazz thread in longevity.

Holy crap, check out that Washington-Cal score. The PS may exceed Utah-BYU this Saturday. Does this mean the end of the Husky free fall?

Lavin may be the coaching story of the year. I'm very happy for him. Did I ever tell the story about how he was nice to my dad, my brother, my nephew and me on the Riverwalk during the 98 final four?
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

I agree on Lavin. I always liked him. Huskies pulled a typical LoRo mid-season fade. They should still win the league by a couple games.

Lots of intrigue for P12 hoops. Does Howland coach a P12 game? What happened to Monty, that guy was one of the 5 best coaches in college hoops. Can the First Brother-in-law's teams ever not be psychitzophrenic? How high can Sean Miller's ceiling be, best coach in the conf IMO. I am super excited for P12 hoops.

The P12 better watch out, Altman is pushing .500 with a roster that contains at most 4 real P12 players. This is turning into a fantastic hire. Pushing the Bruins at Pauley tonight.

On the way out, a fitting exitlude for Ute hoops.

Big week for the Huskies. If they win twice in Arizona I think they win out and take the conference (AZ has a game in Pauley and WA will have swept AZ and will finish with three home games). They certainly have the horses to do that. The game in Tucson could be for the title. They play fucla at home, after already beating the Bruins in Pauley.

2 Pac 12 recruits on Jordan All-America team
            http://www.highschoolhoop.com/all-am...d-east-roster/

            Jabari Brown-Oregon
            Tony Wroten-Washington

No McD AA's in the P12, yikes the conference needs to get rid of Howland and Sendek and return to playing west coast basketball.

Southern Cal is an enigma. So much promise, so much foundering. USC is the Brazil of college basketball. Immense, exotic, dark, sexy, and eternally promising and disappointing.

It is good of you to come around to my line of thinking regarding Lavin. As you know, until recently you were extremely critical of him and accused him of being a bad coach.

I love stories about redemption. It's why I am captivated by USC basketball. Also, our conference needs a strong USC on the hardwoods.

You will be waiting a long time for that. SC isn't a basketball school. If you can figure out why SC cannot field a competitive team on a regular basis, you could probably make millions in consulting fees.

In all seriousness, can you think of a more historically underachieving basketball program in the country given its status and resources: A renown university, a global brand name, one of the most successful all around athletic programs of all time, geographic historic and cultural ties to urban inner city Fertile recruiting ground, prime weather, wealthy alumni base, big city social amenities, and now you can add top notch arena......I can't think of another school that fits this profile more than SC.

Hasn't SC had not one but two different rappers play on their team? I know one was Little Romeo, and the other came in a package deal with OJ Mayo???

                          Nobody came along with Mayo.

Romeo miller made the team but was released shortly thereafter. Many people assumed that he was accepted because His father, Master P, "pulled some strings." this theory is interesting but ultimately makes no sense, as what USC related strings does Master P have at his disposal? The real reason they signed Romeo miller was to increase their chances of signing his good friend DeMar Derozan. Turned out to be a good move.
