Also Reggie Theus has his SAG card from his days on Hang Time. He will be great in all the Ute promos.

Well there really isn't any candidates at this point as we currently have a coach. Theus wants to get back into the college game. He interviewed with DePaul for the head coaching job, so I think that a Pac-12 school would have a shot at hi.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostOther than Top Ute saying so, is there any indication that Theus is a candidate? As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

Definitely got a shot at hi. Reggie is big on salutations! Although Yo might not be a bad one to try, it could help y'all get over the lilly white stereotype of Our Lovely Deseret.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostWell there really isn't any candidates at this point as we currently have a coach. He got Justin Hawkins to trasnfer there...who you could argue was better than any player we've had since Bogut.Originally posted by scottie View PostWhat do you know about Theus' recruiting in his 2 years at NMS?"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.
Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I don't want theus just because he's AA and people think he can recruit. I want somebody with proven coaching credentials. Let's see how good an AD Chris Hill really is. He needs to get a war chest and go and get a repentant and still ambitious Billy Gillispie. If Gillispie can't abide Mormons and Utah or won't even talk for whatever reason that's one thing. But if he'll talk Hill needs to just go and get him. He's the best available candidate. A man who has survived disgrace and is burning for redemption can be a wonderful thing. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Why do you think Billy Gillespie is a good coach? He drove Kentucky right in to the ground.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI don't want theus just because he's AA and people think he can recruit. If we're going for redemption, why not Kelvin Sampson?Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI don't want theus just because he's AA and people think he can recruit. You are right. But you and I know that the ALUF intense desire for moral highground, vis-a-vis the BYU, will sabotage your plan before it hits the Line of Departure (LD). Sadly it is equally important to them to not allow BYU fans r Gordon Monson to whisper about your coach's ethics, morals and private life.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI don't want theus just because he's AA and people think he can recruit. I love how my co-religionists cannot prevent their religious subculture from limiting your athletic success. It warms my heart. What is best about it, from my perspective, is the die hard belief amongst the ALUF that their research education at a public school has broken the chains that shackle you all to continued mediocrity.

Nobody but Shooter makes good coaching calls when drunk. He had great success at two schools before UK. I think Gillespie could do real well at a place like Utah where there is not an expectation to be national champs. Better for Gillespie's nerves as well.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWhy do you think Billy Gillespie is a good coach? Personal redemption is one thing, doesn't Sampson have a history of flat out cheating over and over?Originally posted by DrumNFeather View PostIf we're going for redemption, why not Kelvin Sampson?
Gillespie might have some shady insinuations, but to my knowledge the only firm issue was his issues with the drink.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

The problems at THEM his further descent into his alcoholism. Gillespie has coached at 3 schools and been successful at 2 of the 3. Utah is clearly not THE and is much more similar to his other coaching stops.Originally posted by cougjunkie View PostWhy do you think Billy Gillespie is a good coach? The ALUF desire to take the moral high ground can work in our favor here. All we need to do is sell them on how this is being better than BYU because we recognize the importance of repentance and giving people a 2nd chance. At BYU they are so holier than thou that they would never give an individual a 2nd chance. It is all about how you sell it.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostYou are right. I saw how you folks ran out Majerus for being a meanie. I don't see the U wanting to be Gillespie's redemption stop. Let that be back at UTEP or Southern Miss.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostThe ALUF desire to take the moral high ground can work in our favor here. I know your ALUF brethren. They keep spreadsheets on which BYU players don't serve missions, or how many months they served. Sadly, the chains of judgmentalism in mormon culture are too strong. Let Gillespie go and go find another.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

You are missing a golden opportunity here. Not only is Gillespie the perfect candidate for Utah, he is also the perfect candidate for BYU. BYU fans can tell us how he is perfect for Utah because he is an alcoholic and tell us how "Max Hall was right."Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI saw how you folks ran out Majerus for being a meanie.
