And to be quite frank - I think it would be hilarious if/when BYU ever gets into a "big" conference to then lose a kid to a WCC team - just to see the reactions.
I am sure that was undoubtedly part of it. But I am pretty convinced that if BYU were still in the MWC he still would have gone to Utah. He chose Utah because of Utah and there is nothing BYU could have done to change that.

Further, what did most of the stringpullers expect when the jump was announced? Now, lets be clear BYU's recruiting base is unique and I am confident that BYU is not going to drop into the depths of hoop despair but the close rival moved up and BYU has not.....yet.

I think it would have been nice to have Loveridge, but I think BYU will be fine, perhaps not as fine, but fine nontheless.

What I am really interested in is what is BYU's next plan for a replacement? I still think it pretty likely that Jordan Chatman comes but there is still a roster slot for someone for next year and perhaps two if somebody else quits.

I also wonder how the Sharp transfer influenced things. It might have been that BYU just made a trade.

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

      Eff him.

      • Funny to hear that rationale. I can see it with a kid like jabari -- a recruit of that caliber simply isn't going to play in the wcc. But loveridge is basically a wcc caliber recruit. Outside of his wcc offer, he had offers from the wac, the big sky and two doormat mwc programs.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

        • Congrats to Krysto for doing something in your first couple months on the job that Jim Boylen couldn't do in 4 years, beating out Dave Rose for a recruit.

so far...he made major improvements in his game last season. If he duplicates that this year more schools will come a calling before this is said and done.

Right now he is a poor mans Keena Young. But I think he can develop his game and become a pretty good player.

The big thing for him is that he will start at Utah from Day 1 and be one of their better players. They need a guy like him desperately. Like Napper said at BYU he might sit behind Collinsworth for a few years.

I'm pretty sure that immediate playing time is what got him to the Utes. If he is a poor man's Keena Young, I'll take it because that would immediately make him the best player on the Utes.

Immediate playing time for all comers.

This is a great get for Utah. I wanted him at BYU.

Like MG said the lack of offers is interesting considering he dominated the AAU circuit. But I think he will be a good player and possibly a 15 and 6 guy by the time its all said and done.

                  • I think this may be the first time that Utah has ever gone to head-to-head against Rose for a player that Rose really wanted and got the player.

BYU's interest in Jeremy Olsen is debateable even though they did offer him. It doesn't sound like they recruited him that hard. Same goes for Foster.

                    • So Jordan Chatman actually listed the Utes in his top 4. That seems really odd and out of nowhere. I don't expect the Utes to have any chance at him.

espn gives him an 83. He's not at Loveridge's level (91).

Take a look at Rivals. Jabari has listed Utah but not BYU.

I would rather have Loveridge, but I certainly would want the Utes to get Chatman. It isn't going to happen though.

                            • Jeff Chatman tweeted today that he bleeds 100% blue, but the decision will be all Jordan's. I'll be really disappointed if we miss out on this kid. Especially to Utah. Legacy kids are ones you cannot miss out on unless they're blue chippers.

I think it's more important to get the blue chippers.

I guess the difference between us is I have a Pac 12 perspective.
