After the Harding/Baxter/Beo/Childs class I have no idea who BYU is recruiting. Until transfers, flops or injuries enter into the equation, BYU has about all of its scholarships spoken for through the 18-19 season. I guess TBS has BYU recruiting three kids who are juniors this year but I hear very little about any of them and it doesn't sound to me like BYU is real hot to trot for any of these kids. Does anyone know who BYU is actively pursuing in the 2017 class? For the past few years we knew about the legacy kids or high profile recruits from the time they were freshman, it seemed like. Right now I am not aware of any future LDS highly touted kids that are in HS after this year's group, am I missing anyone?

I'm choosing to mostly ignore your fatuity here and instead overwhelm you with so much data that you'll maybe, just maybe, realize that you have reams to read on this subject before you can contribute meaningfully to any conversation on this topic.

I'm pretty sure they offered that guy from North Carolina, Wes Morgan and there is a post player from the Gem State that is getting good looks. It think Rose has adopted the Majerus model, where you either contribute or get the hell out of town. Lacomb used to work for Majerus so he probably has played a role managing players in that way.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostAfter the Harding/Baxter/Beo/Childs class I have no idea who BYU is recruiting. Per Twitter:
Brendan Bailey to MarquetteOne of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.

Eh. By some accounts Baxter is a much better prospect anyway. Would have been nice to run into Thurl on occasion though.Originally posted by snowcat View PostPer Twitter:

I haven't seen a site yet that says that BYU has offered Morgan. Of course, that may not be up to date. He seems to have some interest from several pretty good teams though.Originally posted by frank ryan View PostI'm pretty sure they offered that guy from North Carolina, Wes Morgan and there is a post player from the Gem State that is getting good looks. In the 2001 summer the Soldiers had the number 1 player in the West and south. When Lebron James showed that had three of the top 10 players in the entire nation. The Oakland team went on to win ever major tournament they played in together. People in California still talk about the summer Lebron teamed up with Oakland to give the whole country a show.*Banned*

well, at least he gets a Duke education paid for if the basketball thing doesn't work out because of injuries.Originally posted by CardiacCoug View PostDuke is patting themselves on the back for signing number 1 prospect Harry Giles -- a 6'10" guy who has already had two torn ACLs. Uh... good luck with that.

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

Any chance Collette ends up at BYU after leaving usu?"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Maybe this should go in the Legal thread....
Someone who knows the law better than I do can correct me if I'm wrong, but where college basketball is a huge revenue generator, I can imagine a case could be made that his leaving costs the university money. If we have a pretty good idea who the poacher is, that becomes actionable. We could then sue them for as little as $1, just to open up subpoena power and discovery. Get phone records, etc., and then go to the NCAA. It's roundabout, but whenever the NCAA does its own investigation, they have no subpoena power and everyone circles the wagons and clams up (BYU Sockgate comes to mind). This way, you get the documentation you need, and the hammer is dropped on the offending institution. It also sets a precedent that if you poach, you get caught, and you suffer the consequences. If it's a wealthy school, you take everything you can from them. It's time to stop laying down when this stuff happens and wishing we were bigger so other institutions weren't poaching us. Until someone does, this will still keep happening. I'm in for whatever work needs to be done, would just need a little guidance from the legal beagles."It's devastating, because we lost to a team that's not even in the Pac-12. To lose to Utah State is horrible." - John White IV
