I remember in 2006 a lot of people saying that the NIT was better for that BYU team because they would play several games and get experience.

BYU then went on to lose in the first round to Houston.

If you lose in the first round of the NIT, you never had any business being in the NCAA Tourney in the first place.

Really don't get the Zylstra hate. Even with his shooting slump he's still shooting 46.6% from the field and 39% from 3 which is better than Emery last year. He rarely if ever takes bad shots which on this team is a killer because it takes shots away from Davies and Hartsock(Carlino are you listening), he is the only guy that always get the ball into the post, and he is a good rebounder. The knock was always his defense and he actually has been holding his own this year. It's amazing how because he didn't play the last two years everyone just assumed he sucked and that people still think that this year. Is he an all star not, even close, but he has the best shooting percentage of the guards so I just get confused by the hate and I'm really not even a huge Zylstra fan other than the fact I wish everyone on the team played as hard as he did.

Most people hate him because, well, he sucks. Despite your effort to lipstick that pig.

Zylstra is the only guy in our 8~ man rotation who doesn't belong in the big minutes rotation of an at-large bid NCAA squad, he is the first person you'd replace if you could in a heartbeat.

Really? What about Winder and Cusick? Zylstra, Cusick and Winder all have major weaknesses in their game.

Yes. The loss of Collinsworth and Rogers makes us very thin.

While I agree that all three are lacking in certain areas, winder is only a freshman and will hopefully develop. I think both cusick and zylstra will see fewer minutes next year with haws, an improved carlino, a healthy rogers, and delgado in the mix.

People hate him because he is ugly, they just won't admit that is the primary reason.

Zylstra has a decent shooting percentage. He is a terrible defender. He makes horrible decisions especially running the break which is key for a 2 guard in our system. He also takes more bad shots than good ones. He disappears in big games and pads his stats against shitty teams. I take Winders lower shooting numbers and much better defense over Zylstra anyday.

I'm not this down on Zylstra, but i like the move to Winder. He plays fast and makes things happen on D.

What? You don't like his eye-high dribble and subsequent TO while leading the break? His inexcusable refusal to stay with the weakside shooter time and again is also very endearing.

I agree with this. Winder is clearly a legitimate good D1 prospect IMO. He will never be a star at BYU but if Carlino can develop into a star Winder, along with Haws, will be part off a better supporting cast than I think the Jimmer enjoyed, but we will need that because the chance of Carlino being as good as the Jimmer is lower than the chance that I will spoon with Wuap in the near future.

Zylstra is an adequate reserve for BYU but no more. My guess is he starts very few, or more likely no more, games over the duration of his BYU experience, but I think he will be a decent reserve next year.
