BYU fans were tripping over themselves to wish the kid well after the NCAA decision was upheld. I didn’t get it. This guy has done more damage to the program than anyone in history and really didn’t seem to think he’d done much wrong.I feel like the tweet matches his personality and I’ll be surprised if he was hacked. It’s mind blowingly stupid to piss away all that undeserved goodwill. I don’t think I can name another BYU athlete who has gotten himself canceled by the fan base. Nick did it in one tweet.

I probably shouldn't comment on this, since I haven't really followed BYU basketball very closely since Jimmer left, but is it possible that Emery's "retirement" wasn't voluntary and that he was actually pushed out by Pope? I wouldn't be surprised if Pope decided he didn't want to deal with Nick's baggage during his first season. Or maybe something else happened that made BYU/Pope decide that it was time to cut ties. Maybe that is why Emery is going after Pope now. I understand why Nick would be pissed about that, especially if he missed out on the draft (or other professional opportunities this season) thinking he would play one more year at BYU. Was Nick good enough that this scenario is implausible?

Regardless, taking a shit on your former team, that you claimed you loved, to a big recruit is one of the most shameful things a former player can do in my eyes.

Wouldn’t surprise me at all if his retirement wasn’t his idea. Even if what he said is true, its astounding that he thought he could be the one to deliver that message.
