Ugh. This talk makes my nipples very flaccid.

Boylen spent a few days at the JC tournament, apparently hunting desperately for guys to come in and fill holes. Like now. Or yesterday.

What in the name of Sam Hill is going on?

    Ugh.

After the last weeks of the season, the rumors of a bunch of defections, the brutal snub by the CBI, the fact that there's not a single player that would break my heart if they left, and the news that Boylen is slumming at the JC tournament, well, I, uh, we, uuhhh...

I will stay bolted to this bandwagon, dammit. Let other people call for the man's head.

He gets next year, at least, before the bandwagon is totally empty. I will cling to the bandwagon like Kate and Leo clung to the Titanic. I hope I don't have to hire a string quartet for "Nearer, My God, To Thee."

I stood shoulder to shoulder with you during the great Troll wars to abandon you now. I am just voicing my worries. I am going down with the SS Boylen and hopefully there will be some something I can cling too once I'm in the water. Because its clear the way Ute fans have bailed on hoops, the life boats are full.

Yeah, I find it interesting that some ute fans want an unproven NAIA coach over a successful D-1 coach from a smaller school. Giacoletti wasn't that good at EWU, btw.

But most ute fans know their team better than I do. I will just say that as a BYU fan, I'd love to see Connor get the job.

Giac had 3 2nds and a 1st place finish at EWU while spending almost the entire OOC schedule on the road. He also managed an NIT and NCAA bid. So yeah he was alright.

So building this team around Marshall Henderson is not the answer? Who knew.

Isn't it safe to assume that the players you guys are counting on most for next season are the ones that will stay? There's enough dead weight on that team that it is probably a good thing if 3 or 4 more guys take off, assuming the 2 or 3 guys that are athletic enough to find their peters in the dark aren't among them.

I would think Judkins makes about as much sense as Connor.

If we're hiring a women's coach I want Elaine Elliott, she's a much better coach than Juddy.

His best season was 17-11, he went to the NCAAs at 17-13 and his record was 69-50 and EWU. Yes, that isn't bad, but you go out and get a guy signficicantly better than that.

I can count five guys on that team I hope leave. Is Marshall leaving? That's all I care bout because we're building a program around him.

Senioritis, in case you didn't notice, the MWC MVP this year was a JUCO last season.

Here's the thing: At Utah/BYU's level, recruits are like picking stocks. Jimmer had a 79 ESPN rating and Lloyd didn't even rate a page. But you know what they say about stocks, give them time.
When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Is that a joke? I swear I'm not sure.

FWIW, I think Jim Boylen looks very dapper on the CBS-CS set with a nice pinstriped suit.

Yeah, the number of "potential" transfers is alarming and really hard to figure. Cyphers was obviously in the dog house. Olsen is going on a mission and may or may not be back (if Boylen doesn't have it going Olsen will return to a new coaching staff).

So if we take those two out of the equation, that leaves mostly a bunch of guys who got playing time this year. I don't see Washburn, Brown, Henderson, Watkins, Tavita, or Foster leaving. Glover is certainly on the block and could probably transfer back to a Texas school. Chris Hines is someone with an outside chance of transferring, but again, I don't see it, he became a key contributor down the stretch.

                                Who else? Tre Smith?

Right now there will be 5 new guys coming into the program including a JC wing that is coming from Casper CC by way of Kent St.

If Josh Sharp is coming back from his mission this year, he'd bump that number back up to 5, but I don't know where he is with that. Me thinks he has another year.

If Neal Monson is a straight-to-a-mission kid, then that would only be 4 guys, but assuming Boylen is bringing in at least one more player, then we could see more attrition.

Boylen took the wrong approach with the foreign players, basically calling them soft from day one...and even if it is true, you don't want to see guys like Weigh leaving the program because the coach is mean. I know that was only part of the component and he had a pro-ball offer, but even so.
"They're good. They've always been good" - David Shaw.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.
