I guess I am late to the party, I think Jimmer has a chance to play in the NBA. I don't think that chance is increased by him leaving early. If he has another good game on Saturday, and hopefully beyond. Then comes back and has a full healthy season as a senior with a great tourney he will be a late 1st rounder, IMO.Get confident, stupid

I do, too. I think it depends on how we are defining "play." He will definitely wind up wearing an NBA uniform, though.Originally posted by Surfah View PostI think Jimmer will play in the NBA.
Jimmer has already indicated that he will put this name into the draft this season, so Brethren, adieu is quite possible.
Tomorrow will be a big game for him.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

I agree with that. If he can make a splash in the tournament, his stock may never be any higher. You never know what could happen next year and often it it doesn't help.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI do, too. I think it depends on how we are defining "play." I'd like him to stick around for selfish reasons obviously. I don't think leaving early to be a 2nd round pick is a wise decision, although it could be possible he sneaks his way into a guaranteed contract given the dearth of PGs in this year's class. Jimmer's best asset is that he's a scorer, and I'm not sure how well that translates to the NBA game. The jump between great college players and NBA pros with staying power is huge. You can definitely look at some guys around the league and imagine Jimmer having at least as much success just standing out there and knocking down shots. I have a hard time picturing him as an NBA point because he lacks explosiveness and plays so far underneath the rim. Those scoop shots end up in the 5th row or back down his throat in the NBA. Whatever his decision, I'll enjoy him while we have him because I remember Murdock running the point all too clearly.

neither one of those guys can shoot like Jimmer.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View Post
For the record, I hope he does have a nice career in the NBA. I just wonder. Guys like Kalid El-Amin and Mateen Cleaves were very Jimmer-esque in college as well. Plus they won national championships.Dyslexics are teople poo...

Mateen Cleaves had a very impressive career as bench cheerleader. No one celebrated his teammates winning like Mateen. That's hard to teach. I still remember his stint in Seattle, the man's had a cheshire-catlike grin and made more noise than anyone. I was very impressed.Originally posted by Flystripper View Postneither one of those guys can shoot like Jimmer."Either evolution or intelligent design can account for the athlete, but neither can account for the sports fan." - Robert Brault

Jimmer's biggest problem is defense. That's the glaring weakness in his game. Add that he's a shoot first PG and I see lots of teams passing on him. That said, I would love to see Jimmer in purple and gold. Would we lose anything on the defensive end with him instead of Fisher or Farmar? Since the difference there is probably a wash, I'd gladly take his offensive game over any of the Lakers' PGs. I think Jimmer would be a great backup to Deron when he gets to LA."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I've said before in another thread, if Steph Curry can make it in the NBA, Jimmer can too.
You can hide bad defense, but not many people can fill it up like these two. They both have a knack for putting the ball in the hole despite physical limitations. Same with JJ Reddick, although he's more of a pure shooter than scorer, but he's a good example of someone who can make it based purely on his offensive capabilities.
Also, NBA scouts put a heavy weight on how you perform in the tournament against other tournament teams. You're playing against the top talent. If you can fill it up against them, you can survive the NBA.
