I caught about half of the 2nd half and only a few minutes of the 1st half. How many NBA 3s did Drca attempt in this game? I must have seen 3 or 4 in the limited time I watched, and none of them were even close to going in. He made several other bad decisions as well. Is Cyphers injured or has he not lived up to the hype surrounding him coming out of HS? Wasn't he Kansas POY with a Kansas Jayhawk offer? I know the kid is young, but Luca is brutal. Boylen should invite him to go sit his ass back up on the 2nd floor if he attempts any more of those shots well outside of his range with half the shot clock remaining.

Watched much of this game along with the SDSU v UNLV game. Quick recap as I've now watched 4 Utah games this year:

Carlon Brown: Forget the 3 pt shot. Go inside
Watkins: Give him the ball in the post. He's too big for most 3's and too quick for most 4's. Seems a bit lost in Boylen's rather mundane offense but he's learning.
Henderson: Forget the 2pt shot. Go outside. I really don't get how a kid of his diminutive stature can be so poor off the dribble. He can shoot (when confident) but otherwise is a huge liability in the open court. Plays decent defense but at this point is a head case. Cockiest guy I've seen since Nov 28th and doesn't have the game to be that arrogant.
Washburn/Foster: Yikes. Every bit of 7 foot and lanky on defense but they both play about 6'5'' on offense and don't get to their spots or demand the ball on the block like they need to. They don't even try all that hard for position and Boylen is forced to try high/low action to get them involved. Really the teams greatest weakness of which there are many.
      Tavita/Cyphers/Glover: Young but unimpressive players.
Hines: Why doesn't this kid get more time? Is small but seems like he's got game and much better off the dribble than the other mighty might Henderson. Perhaps no outside game? '

Anyway, trying to be as objective as I can I think this team has little to no identity and not nearly enough talent and that's being kind. I think if Foster can hit the weightroom and learn some footwork he might be a decent player. Washburn is destined for anonymity. Feed Watkins, improve his conditioning, and run some different plays specifically for him.

A Saturday home game in the evening is far too rare for the Utes in recent memory. I'm looking forward to a great atmosphere tonight (despite the poor season).

And despite everything, Utah is capable of winning. They're also capable of losing by 20.

I think we are going to take the Lobos out behind the shed tonight.

I love games like this. One of them has to lose.

Henderson has a decent fake and pull up jumper. He hit that shot pretty well against Michigan.

Tough game. We might be the best team in the nation during those first ten minutes of the 2nd half. Too bad we're always playing from behind during that time.

It's hard to criticize Boylen and the players in a 3-point OT loss to the #15 team in the nation. It's the stark drop in intensity and execution against Wyoming and Colorado St that kills me.

Too bad for the Utes. One thing the Lobos have been able to do this year is answer the other team's runs with runs of their own. The other thing is that the Lobos really know how to get to the glass this year. BYU had better be working on their box outs when the Cougs play UNM in two weeks. That ought to be an epic game. The Cougs have got to finish strong!
