  • Utah v. New Mexico

I hope New Mexico is in a death spiral (0-2 in two MWC games in which they were favored, including UNLV at home). Sometimes teams just start losing for no apparent reason. (Dissention?) That's our hope tonight.

I'm with you. May the ghost of Olney get exorcised by the step-sons of Helaman.

Seriously, I am optimistic about this team, but the Pit has always been a pit.

I think the Pit has caused more grief for us fans of the U than any other arena. So many losses of the rip-your-hear-out-of-your-chest-while-it's-still-beating variety.

        Ugh.

The team needs to control the tempo of this game from the opening tip. Anything less than 40 solid minutes could be another punch in the stomach.

I'm anxious to see how this team responds to the Pit. Getting loose balls, minimizing second shots and turnovers can go a long way in keeping the crowd at bay. Go Utes.

Amazing that the line for this game is only ten points. I'm taking UNM to cover easily.

              Both teams struggling.

Drca sucks. Washburn who SU was all over is not impressive.

              Watkins is solid.

Foster is tall but UNM is not intimidated they are taking it to him on every play.

I've said before that Drca and Tillie are just not D1 players in my humble opinion. I give them credit for sticking around the program and give Boylen credit for sticking with them, but I just think the team will be better off without them next year.

Washburn and Foster are young (age for one and basketball-wise for both), but I think there is certainly great potential in both. I can't remember a guy like Watkins at Utah, his style just isn't one that has been recruited in the last 10 years or so.

the last 4 minutes of the half Utah couldnt hit the broadside of a barn.

Frustrating end to the 1st half. Turnovers, poor defense, and no ability to get a good shoot on offense.

Wow I just wandered over to Utefans and there was a hell of a meltdown this afternoon. Does this game have everyone tense, or were they fighting over billboard ads again?

Utah needs to feed Watkins in the post.

Every time Utah looks like they are going to make a run and get close, New Mexico gets a big basket.

The Lobos played well and I thought Alford had a very good game plan. The Lobos certainly didn't shy away from taking the ball inside, despite Utah's height advantage. Foster will be a good player with more experience, but he is no Luke Nevill at this point. Here's hoping Jimmer is fully recovered when the Cougs visit the Lobos in two weeks.
