This is the pinnacle of Ute basketball for a five year time period.
It's not about where we've been, it's about where we want to be. We have seen the mountain top and we have seen the valley. To get back to the mountain top, you have to walk up the slope. Along the way there are various rest stops where you turn around, look back at the valley, and say "Sayanora suckers!"

The Utes were given a high seed, and Arizona was given a low seed, that much was clear. Frankly, I consider it an honor to be overrated by the tournament committee. That speaks volumes of the respect the Utah program has nationally.

Coloute on Utah's performance so far

So, our young and inexperienced team is sucking giant, infected, puss-filled, yak ass at 5-6, and last in the MWC.

But last year, after 11 games, our senior-laden, cohesive, future MWC champs and NCAA 5 seed, basketball machine was setting the %^&@ing world on fire at....drum roll please.....6-5, but only 2nd to last in the MWC.

So this year's identity-less squad of selfish hacks have lost to teams like Seattle and Illinois State.

Last year's group of team-first perfection only had near misses against powerhouses like D II SW Baptist and Idaho State (which is a far worse loss than Idaho.)

Last year's grizzled veteran offense raced past hapless defenses at a 72.4 points per game clip.

This year's discombobulated crap-ass system which is poorly coached, devoid of any kind of set play, and completely ill-suited to the limited talents of our players only averages a comatose-like 71.9 ppg.

Look, I know I'm being a prick here, and I'm as baffled and frustrated as everyone else. I also don't want to be an apologist. We shouldn't be losing the game's we're losing. But $#!+ happens in college hoops.

Boylen's turned it around before - as recently as a year ago, oddly enough. Shouldn't we actually give him a chance to do it again before we start questioning the long-term future of the team?
