BYU has never "dominated" Utah and it never will. Right now, you have a bunch of Northern Utah all-staters. Woopteedoo. They're always grossly overrated. Somebody from that basketball wasteland has to make the top 150 lists. If any of tham go on missions (unlikely, granted) you may be flirting with disaster. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

Oh please, I would never make that statement about Meyer because his tenure was a short 2 years at Utah. I will state the obvious that Utah football will never have a coach as good as Meyer. I doubt the stars will align again and that we get the best coach in college football at our school. Whittingham is a very good coach and I am happy to have him. He was a nice follow-up to Meyer, but make no mistake we would be better off if Meyer decided to be a long term coach at Utah than we are with Whittingham.Originally posted by SeattleUte View Post--signed Eeyore, er, mpfunk

Utah is going to take some lumps this year. The difference is that they are not going to roll over and die like Giac's last 2 teams. As a fan, I can take a rebuilding project if you can see the light, and the players/coaches keep pressing.
that is what was so discouraging about Giac, he had a deer in headlights look whenever his team was behind and his teams tended to fold like a savings&loan after the mortage meltdown whenever they were down by 10 points."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."
"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."
"I like to bike. I could beat Lance Armstrong, only because he couldn't pass me if he was behind me."

Stop disrupting SU's stereotyped little world with facts!
If I were one of the many reasonable Ute fans on this board, I would petition that he change his name. He's an embarrassment worse than anything you see on CB.
Oh I keep forgetting--he's just trolling, right?Last edited by ERCougar; 11-25-2009, 10:25 AM.At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

The future is all Utah County guys. All we've heard about for a year is Haws Haws Haws, and later, Davies Davies. They're not that good. Except for Fridericci, Rose has built his program on foreigners and Utah kids. That doesn't work. Ask Ray Giacoletti.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostHehehe...

So then why is Boylen offering all of these kids as well?Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThe future is all Utah County guys. Also Kyle Collinsworth was offered by about 15 different schools including USC, Virginia, Washington etc. Why do they want these overrated Utah county all-stars?*Banned*

Marshall Henderson. He's showing a lot of promise. U-U thinks he'll either be an All-American or get kicked off the team. He's a pretty cock sure coach's son.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostWhat happened to the Ute recruit from the Dallas Metro area? At this rate there will be too many current SW Baptist games to make this argument stale.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostSince we lost to SW Baptist we bested you in the MWC in a year that should have belonged to BYU. As is your wont, you will still be talking about SW Baptist long after we have reestablished our traditional dominance over you, just as you still blather about that football game at Vegas eons ago.
P.S. BYU also won the conference for yet another year in a row.

I think we have enough information to judge Boylen already. In my not so humble and admittedly expert opinion, Boylen is a very good coach who will have this team contending by the time the conference schedule starts.
Concerning BYU's current roster and recruiting base, I don't understand what SU thinks is going on but I'll help him a little. Yes SU, we do recruit Utah. You may have noticed that our school is located in Utah and a substantial portion of our fanbase is there. As a result, we recruit it. Primarily though, we recruit LDS players. I don't want to talk down to you but here are some facts that you will want to know so you can modify your opinion.
Recent starting 5 states of origin.
2009-10 season
Utah, Nevada, Utah, Utah, NY
2008-09 season
Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, NY
2007-08 season
Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Utah
2006-07 season
Texas, Texas, Arizona, Arizona, Alberta
2005-06 season
Texas, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Hawaii
Based on that list of starting 5s, it is clear to me that BYU recruits other places than Utah. Of the 5 starting 5s since Rose took over (25 possible spots) only 8 were filled by Utah players. Interestingly, two were only single year starters brought into the program to fill needs.

That tells SU nothing, his facts are based on religious bigotry and stereotypes and those will always trump actual facts.Originally posted by KillerDog View PostI think we have enough information to judge Boylen already. It's actually their first real year. Last year they played a combined DII and DI schedule.Originally posted by LiveCoug View PostThis is Seattle's second year in their return as a D-1 school. The fact that Elgin Baylor went there is irrelevant. They got clobbered by Okie State and Portland and barely beat Fresno and Weber State (Weber is baaaad). This is a bad home loss for the utes.
And Weber St. is not bad. They haven't started out well, but they were Big Sky champs last year (I think they went 13-1 in conference but I'm not positive), returned 4 guys from that team, and are the consensus favorites to win the conference again.
I went to the SU vs. WSU game and barely beat isn't accurate. They only won by 4, but the game was never that close and SU led by 18 in the 2nd half. They're honestly not a bad team, and that Garcia kid is arguably better and more talented than anyone Utah or BYU has on their roster. So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.
