Utes fall to Seattle

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.Tags: None

I went to the SU vs. Weber St. game this past Sunday. SU won by 4, but led by 18 well into the second half. That gives them consecutive wins against Fresno St., Weber St. and now Utah. Not bad for a first year D1 team.
Charles Garcia is a very nice looking player. Fluid athlete, can finish around the hoop, handles well for his size, and can step out and shoot a bit. Weber really struggled with him.So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

While I agree with that post for the most part, I would still be a little worried. A turnaround in basketball is not the same as football. One or two recruiting classes and you should have a pretty good idea of who you have as a coach. Now missions do play a role and honestly, I have no idea what Boylen is dealing with there. I don't think you can say you have to be patient with Boylen because Whittingham got the patience and it paid off.Originally posted by SeattleUte View Post
I still think Utah will be in the think of things come MWC time. I think Boylen is very good coach and I think Seattle University is probably very underrated. Still, a year three Boylen coached Utah program should not be losing those kinds of games at home.A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

They won the conference last year and went to the NCAA playoffs. He's also recruited better than anyone has for 15 years. It's not like he's done nothing and we're waiting to see some indication he can build a program. Basketball is different in that there are many more games and they mean less. A team's progression is often dramatic and it can afford to be. Coaches know this as they experimetn with different combinations, etc. Regardless, the Utes may be in for a tough year. He lost four starters and has played three games with a whole new team. I don't judge a coach on even one year--much less three games. And then it's the same fans complaining now who call him disloyal if he wins 30 games and takes a job in the Big Ten. Fans are the worst part of the game!Originally posted by CJF View PostWhile I agree with that post for the most part, I would still be a little worried. Added bonus to the slow start: You can pull that sandbagging gimmick again when Utah plays BYU in b-ball in January.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThey won the conference last year and went to the NCAA playoffs. Like I said, I mostly agree with what you said. And with the game in Vegas and not in SLC, I agree even a little more than I did 10 minutes ago. I can also understand the concern some fans might have with this and the Idaho loss. As I said earlier, I still think Utah will challenge for the conference title this year before all is said and done.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostThey won the conference last year and went to the NCAA playoffs. This team is not very good offensively, and the parade to the free throw line in the second half left no chance for a run or any sort of rhythm.
I'm numb to these losses by now. Either that's a positive because I have perspective and won't let one loss affect my viewpoint; or it's a negative because I don't have confidence that any game is a sure win."I don't know the origin of said bitch booming."-Art Vandelay

Sheesh. I believed you and it made me agree with SU more. I just looked at the Utah schedule. The game was in SLC. The next two are in Vegas however.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI think the game was in Vegas.A man who views the world the same at fifty as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life. - Mohammad Ali

Cameron Dollar said he could be the best NBA prospect playing in the state of WA right now. That's probably some coach hype, but he's definitely very talented.Originally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostHe was in the lane or on the line all night.
