In all fairness to Utah, Seattle is no Southwest Baptist.

Yeah, I noticed that in the newspaper this morning. On the newscast last night they said it was "the first round of the Las Vegas Invitational" so I assumed it was in Vegas. My bad.Originally posted by CJF View PostSheesh. I believed you and it made me agree with SU more. I just looked at the Utah schedule. The game was in SLC. Since we lost to SW Baptist we bested you in the MWC in a year that should have belonged to BYU. As is your wont, you will still be talking about SW Baptist long after we have reestablished our traditional dominance over you, just as you still blather about that football game at Vegas eons ago.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostIn all fairness to Utah, Seattle is no Southwest Baptist. When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

These games are not surprising from the Ute team this year. Giacoletti had the scholarship situation at Utah completely imbalanced. Utah lost far too many players after last year and it has forced the Utes to play far too many young players. This team is going to be up and down all year. I'm not expecting anything more than an NIT season for the Utes and that might not even happen. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

It appears that Boylen loses a few games in the preseason to some sucky opponents as it happened last year with some pretty experienced guys in their second year playing BoylenBall. However, I think the U had some good preseason wins as well - perhaps his tent revival emotion leads to mood swings as well as water retainage - hell the Utes do have a frenshmon on their squad! During the conference season I thought it was the Ute consistency that led to them sharing the MWC championship with BYU - who was clearly a better team. BYU had that 2nd half meltdown against UNLV at home, that was the difference. If Boylen's recruiting is as good as SeattleUte claims the U will be pretty good. I must admit that he doesn't leave me believing he will enjoy the success there that Majerus enjoyed, but I think he will be ever bit as good as BYU has been under Rose. He might even win more 1st round games, but I think the Utes won't see the 3rd round very often. However, I think their fanbase would be ok with winning the MWC 3-4 times a decade and winning 2-3 first round games a decade.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Utah will likely never have another coach that will enjoy the success that Majerus did at Utah. I doubt that anyone in the MWC will ever see a run of success like Majerus had at Utah. Most teams in this conference would be absolutely thrilled to even match the Majerus "down years."Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI must admit that he doesn't leave me believing he will enjoy the success there that Majerus enjoyedAs I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

I believe in fact there was a 3 way tie for the conference title. Not to mention Utah had a senior laden team (hence the huge step back this year) where BYU was very young and only lost one player from last years team.
Face it BYU is a program that is not going anywhere for a long time and they are very deep and dominate the MWC/Utah for years to come.*Banned*

This is Seattle's second year in their return as a D-1 school. The fact that Elgin Baylor went there is irrelevant. They got clobbered by Okie State and Portland and barely beat Fresno and Weber State (Weber is baaaad). This is a bad home loss for the utes.

I agree. BYU right now is about where Utah was the last 5-6 Majerus years after Andre Miller graduated. Yet BYU is without the one or two NCAA wins Majerus got and IMO BYU has more talent and depth than Majerus had those last 5 years. Majerus was a great, great coach.Originally posted by mpfunk View PostUtah will likely never have another coach that will enjoy the success that Majerus did at Utah. I really think Boylen will do fine at Utah. I think in two years when Henderson, Foster, Cyphers, Washburn, Glover and Hines are all seniors or juniors we will know exactly what Boylen is capable of.Do Your Damnedest In An Ostentatious Manner All The Time!

Utah won NCAA games after Andre Miller graduated, including a thrilling one agaisnt Pac 10 champ Oregon. BYU is not smelling Utah's success after Andre Miller graduated.Originally posted by Goatnapper'96 View PostI agree. They won two under Majerus after Miller left. They beat Oregon and St Louis. The St Louis win was more thrilling.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostUtah won NCAA games after Andre Miller graduated, including a thrilling one agaisnt Pac 10 champ Oregon.
