2020 presidential election straw poll

There are so many community efforts like voting that are completely irrational and objectively a total waste of time from any one individual's perspective. Nobody's rationale for voting should be to change the outcome of the election. There have to be other reasons.

The main reason to vote is so you can look back on your voting effort with the knowledge that you did your duty in promoting truth, justice, and the American way!

Biden was so weird with his stream of consciousness rants last night. To paraphrase Justice Potter Stewart, I know dementia when I see it!

I recognize this sounds cheesy, reeks of virtue signaling, and is also not analogous at all, but I view voting in civic elections the same way I do with sustaining votes in church. My vote means little or nothing, indeed almost always nothing, to the world or the result, but it's an outward expression of my internal commitment to the system, and I want those closest to me to know that I think that's important.

This is the first election that I have voted a Democrat for POTUS. I have for other offices just not the big one. Crazy how unifying Trump is.

I decided whatever else is going on in the US, none of it can be resolved pragmatically through reasoned discourse as long as there is a president who thrives only when chaos prevails. Whatever disagreements and fears I have of any ideology represented along the political spectrum must be met with reason, nuance, data, research, science, and statesmanship. How the necessary compromises are reached is important.
