There are not five justices picked by presidents who lost the popular vote. Not even if you count Breyer, who was picked by a president who did not have a majority of the popular vote.

Roberts and Alito were both picked by a president who had just won the 2004 popular vote.

Well, yeah, but W wouldn't have won in 2004 if he hadn't won in 2000...

NYT releases details on trumps tax returns. Lol it is obvious why he didn’t want them released. Wow.

$750 in 2016 and none in 10 of 15 prior years.

                • I read the NYT article but I got lost in the weeds. How about a potential presidential tax fraud inservice Pelado?

I have said over and over that tax returns will not give people what they want, which is a connection to Russia, and look what the NYT says:

No subject has provoked more intense speculation about Mr. Trump’s finances than his connection to Russia. While the tax records revealed no previously unknown financial connection — and, for the most part, lack the specificity required to do so
Returns don't spell out who you owe money to and the tax rules around real estate are so convoluted that many CPAs won't even be able to make out what is going on in his returns. It doesn't surprise me he's reporting signiifcant losses both because he's an idiot and because he's in real estate.

I don’t think most people seriously believed there was going to be some kind of Russian connection in there. Come on.

Details are pretty interesting. Given that he was so reluctant to put them out, this is about what you should expect. Interesting to read about the debt situation.

I've only read half the article. It's too long for one sitting so I'll finish it tomorrow. But I know many on here (PAC was definitely one of them) that wanted his tax returns so he could prove a Russian connection. Maybe I need to find those posts and link them or maybe PAC was kidding

The debt situtation could be troubling but oftentimes that corporate debt just gets refinanced. It's not a big deal to have a big debt payment out a couple years, which debt was likely used to finance the purchase or renovation of a property. Large corporations rarely payoff of their public debt and usually just refinance through issuing new bonds. Now, Trumps's debt may be different in that he could be in trouble but we can't really know unless we have more information. For better or worse, Trump's dealings are all private (I checked Finra and saw nothing there).

I haven't read through everything, but I'm not at all surprised by what I've read so far, for much the same reasons as expressed by Moliere:

I'll try to go through a bit more in depth tomorrow.
