    • The first known use of Robots or drones to clear the Strait. Makes me wonder what else we have at our disposal..

The Navy Sends in the Robots to Clear Hormuz of Mines

Drones minimize risks to sailors and could give the U.S. negotiating leverage if they help open the waterway

      • Ukraine is showing the methods on how to minimize casualties to their soldiers with the use of robots. We would be wise to follow the same path in Iran. IF, Trump looks to actually move to land. I have to believe we have the same capabilities and technology and hopefully on a much larger scale.

The Killer Robots Are Coming. The Battlefield Will Never Look the Same.

Ukraine is using unmanned ground vehicles armed with bombs, guns or rockets to carry out attacks and keep its soldiers out of harm’s way.

The robots charged into battle through a valley in eastern Ukraine, driving over grass toward a Russian position. Essentially little green wagons, they looked like something you might buy at a garden store to move bags of soil around. But each carried 66 pounds of explosives.

As the remotely controlled vehicles approached the enemy soldiers, an aerial drone flew in and dropped a bomb to help clear a path. One of the robots then rushed in and blew itself up, while the others held back, monitoring the position.

A sheet of cardboard appeared above a trench. “We want to surrender,” it read. Two Russian soldiers then stepped out and walked to Ukrainian lines to be taken as prisoners of war.

The assault, captured on video last summer, shows how Ukraine is pioneering a new way of war, its leaders say.

I can promise you Anduril already has something developed. That company reminds me of Stark Enterprises btw...

Also, LOL at starting a war and then patting yourself on the back for ending it. What a clown.

It's becoming fairly obvious there's no de-escalation possible that isn't a worse situation than we had pre-war. I am hoping he will take that shitty deal and do his usual schtick of pretending it's a better deal and just get out of there. But I think he will continue to take bad advice from Israel and from his war hawks and I think we'll have boots on the ground soon.

                • I liked the effective use of a comma after "so let's", creating a dramatic pause before the inspiring and compelling "GET IT DONE!" You'd never know he's almost certainly the least well-read president in our history (possible exception: Andrew Johnson who had no formal schooling and was taught to read by his wife). Such an embarrassment.

He takes credit for things he hasn't even done and often are things that shouldn't need to be done.

He didn't have jack shit to do with the Abraham accords and couldn't tell you anything about half the countries.

I think presidents should have to complete some sort of geography test

                        • I think I posted this thought a couple months ago but it’s turning out to be true- that Trump may has met his match in Iran. They are just as corrupt (sorry, much more corrupt) and they not only don’t give a rats ass about the life of their citizens but they will die before ceding control to anything. They also don’t care about their status in the western world and will make one statement one day and contradict it the next day without caring. They are basically a Trump clone and it’s depressingly funny to see Trump get so frustrated after everyone they break a promise or agreement, some terms of which I doubt they either actually agreed to ever meant to follow.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Iran is the thing that finally breaks MAGA becasue they are more Trump than Trump is Trump

I have wondered the same thing. Trump's Waterloo.

                            • I'm really curious about this claim.

About two-thirds of Iran's air force is still believed to be operational, the officials said, after an intensive U.S. and Israeli campaign that struck thousands of targets, including storage and production facilities.
The US and Israel essentially had uncontested reign over their airspace twice in the past year. So the term "operational" is doing a lot of work. But the Iranian Air Force is one of the more unique in the world because they have a mix of US, French, Italian, Russian, and Chinese aircraft. Their two primary fighters are the F14 and MiG 29. both 4th Gen fighters. Their entire helicopter fleet is Italian and US. They have minimal (if any) refueling capability.

Maintaining these platforms is difficult even when you own the supply chain. The US is dealing with parts obsolescence on many of our older airframes. I can't imagine how Iran is able to maintain a 60 year old Mirage or F14. Consider that the engine life of an F14 is about 6000 hours before an overhaul. Iran has been cut off from access to parts since 1979. Even without the battle damage of the past month, I don't see how two-thirds of their Air Force could be considered operational.
