I forgive him for his part in starting the Iraq War -- we now know that he was bullied into it by Rumsfeld and Cheney. Powell is a true American statesman and leader.

I also would respect him much more had he stood up to Rumsfield and Cheney, if what he implies about the situation is really true. We're talking lives at stake here--it's worth your job to stand up and take a stand.

Yeah, his support of Barack (and you give Seattle a hard time about spelling!) was known for almost a year, but he wouldn't offer official endorsement until just a week before the election when the outcome was certain.

As far as the war goes, I've read his account a couple of times. I'm not sure quite what to make of it, or what he c/should have done differently. It's clear that he's sincere in his regret, though.

I listened to Powell speak at the Rose Garden at one of those leadership conference deals. It featured other guys like Don Shula, Rudy Giuliani, Robert Patterson, Zig Ziglar, etc. He underwhelmed me. Talked about what he does to stay busy so as not to bother his wife now that he spends so much time at home. He did ride on a razor scooter to the stage because he had just had surgery.

As an aside, I saw Barack Hussein Obama last week. His motorcade passed in front of us when we were in DC. I reached for his car hoping to be made whole. But his escorts kept me at bay.

Yeah he is. How many tours in nam did he do? The guy is a statesmen if had attacked bush/cheny he would have criticized for that too. The character assasination stuff seems to fall on party lines in this case
