What I find hilarious is that the GOP has chosen Devin Nunes and Gym Jordan to be the face of the party in this whole thing. What a couple of pathetic losers. Jordan has gone from protecting a shower masturbator to a much more unseemly wanker. You've chosen quite the tribe there Ted.

I do wonder if Democrats thought through this all the way. Once it gets to the Senate, the Senate can call Hunter Biden (and evening Joe Biden if they want to go that far). Is that really what Democrats want in the middle of a Presidential Primary? Maybe they aren’t concerned, but it seems kind of problematic.

And I guess they can just say they're not going to show up. It's working for the whole Trump team.

Yes, we were promised an impeachment, dammit!

I will go on record right now that this most certainly will backfire. I think Trump will once again lose the popular vote, but his base in the swing states will be so ticked off they will show up in record numbers; and will show up in mass greater than the reasonable folks that see Trump for who is is.

People in this country by and large don't care about corruption and morals. They care if you have an R or a D at the end of your name, and if you call the other side names they will like you even more. Him clearly being a sleazebag and a liar is not going to dissuade right-wingers in the slightest.

The same was true with the left with Clinton. He actually got more popular during the impeachment proceedings, because most red-blooded americans would love to get *ahem* serviced in the oval office if they could. Trump's rich, he lies constantly, he's uncouth and represents about everything wrong with society but what red-blooded GOP'er wouldn't like to be rich, bang hookers, and lie about it?

              It's America dang it.

Just a reminder. Mulvaney has already admitted that the Ukraine funding was held up in order to pressure the Ukraine to investigate the bogus 2016 election/Dem server issue, calling it a quid pro quo. Amb Sundland's "presumption" was correct, although it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what went on.

They do that all the time. So get over it!

What on earth makes you think that CJ Roberts would permit such a course of inquiry? Roberts is very concerned about the courts appearing non-partisan. There is zero chance he would let irrelevant fishing expeditions occur.

It’s the Senate that tries the President, not the Chief Justice or any “court.” The Senate set the rules and decides on evidentiary issues. The Chief Justice merely presides over the Senate during the trial, filling the role that the Vice President normally fills (which is largely ceremonial and managerial). He wouldn’t be making evidentiary rulings.

Here are the current Senate rules regarding impeachment:

Like all Senate rules, they can be changed by majority vote. The rules provide that the Chief Justice can make evidentiary rulings, but that a majority vote of the senate can overturn his rulings if they disagree.

Yeah, the Dems have Drumpf right where they want him... he might as well resign now and make Pence our president.

So true. I think he should be impeached over this Ukraine stuff, but I really don’t care anymore. The Dems have been phishing for years and they finally got a bite but I’m so tired of hearing the stories of the ones that got away that I just want to vote the guy out now.

Spoiler alert. There will be 2, 3 senate republicans, tops, who will vote with democrats to impeach Trump. He's not going anywhere before 2020. This is all about doing the constitutionally mandated duty. Trump has done impeachable things, in spades. We would rightly be angry if congress didn't have impeachment hearings.
