  • When I wear my BYU gear, and someone puts up one of those lame "U" symbols in my face, that's like raising a middle finger. When someone wears their Utah gear? Not a middle finger. If someone were to put up the US flag on their house, not a middle finger. If a fan were to wave a US flag in the face of a kneeling NFL player? Middle finger.

I don't see wearing the MAGA hat an FU just by wearing it to DC.

It had many of the pieces, pain, love, revenge, jealousy, etc. but ended up a mess.

Peterson touches on most of this is Chapter 6 of "12 Rules for Life", though many have commented on it throughout history.

Are you insinuating that such cycles or paths don't exist? I'm not sure exactly what the takeaway is. Was there something in the quote that is untrue? I think it's pretty accurate in describing the thought process that has occasionally led to atrocity.
Yeah GL messed up when he made Episode I because he had no filter and nobody to tell him he was messing up. Not that the idea was flawed, but the execution was heavily botched and the studio had to just grin and bear it. He added extra, unnecessary elements that dragged out the movie and caused the most hardcore SW fan to just space out for 15 minute chunks. There were good parts, however: 1. Darth Maul was such a great villain, everybody agrees that killing him off was probably the movie's biggest mistake in a valley of mistakes. 2. That lightsaber battle. GL took it all the way to the next level, giving fans the exact thing they wanted, so much that they were able to readily forgive the sloppy movie that led up to it. 3. Liam Neeson as a Jedi. In fact, fantastic casting all around-- with the exception of little Ani, everybody was perfect. 4. Ian McDiarmid- geez that guy stole the show in every scene he was in. More British stage actors in our fantasy space sagas, please.

I'll leave my thoughts on the other two for another time...

I'm no star wars nerd, but even I know that Darth Maul wasn't killed in that battle. You need to bone up on your SW, bro!

          • Military record of Nathan Phillips (AKA Nathan Stanard)

Also, I hadn't read (which is odd since I've been trying to read/listen to as much perspective as I can) that he also led a protest at The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on January 19th (the day after).

This second incident seem nearly absent from the main stream media.

He totally was until the weight of that mistake became too much to bear and Lucasfilm deus ex machina'd him during The Clone Wars with GL's blessing.

I just thought it was a clever way to express an opinion, it doesn't add anything new. Should have expressed that. If I run into any new information regarding the incident, I will likely still post it.

Dude, no condemnation. I’m just expressing twitter fatigue over the issue.

Yeah, the impending outrage that is going to happen with this one is justified. I think the Judge's comments in this case show he really isn't fit to be on the bench.

First lawsuit filed, likely more to come.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Kentucky by Covington Catholic High School student Nicholas Sandmann, 16, seeks $250 million in damages - saying that was the amount Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon.com and the world’s richest person, paid for the Post in 2013.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

Every person on the planet, if caught at just the right moment, when they are 16, has a "punchable" face. If by "punchable" you mean "appears to be a smug prick", and not implying that expression itself warrants actual punching. If someone were to imply that your avatar picture is of a "punchable" face, that would be wrong, right?
